CRM Client installtion failure

I am trying to install the Outlook desktop client on a newly installed OS.
The install gets nearly all the way through and then 'rolls back'. In
reality it doesn't actually roll back and when I open up Outlook I see the
client and the toolbar there. I can log emails etc into the CRM database,
however one thing it keeps doing is prompting me to confirm that I want to
allow an application access to the Outlook address book.
I have poseted previously to see if anyone else has had this problem and how
to solve it, but since I have not received a response, I will assume that no
one else is experiencing this and my failed install is the cause of this
problem.
So, I am wondering whether others have an idea of what to do in this
situation. I have run the component checker, that has confirmed I am using
MDAC 2.8. I have ensured that the Distributed Transaction Coordinator is
running under the NT AUTHORITY\NetworkService logon. I am running Office
2003 Pro SP 1.
I have other COM applications running fine so I don't believe this is
causing the problem, and I only just installed the OS (without errors) so I
don't believe that is the problem.
Where would I find the CRM installation log? Perhaps there are clues in
there?
The event log says
"Faulting application crmforoutlookinstaller.exe, version 3.0.5300.0,
faulting module msmapi32.dll, version 11.0.6361.0, fault address
0x0002769d.", which frankly does not help an awful lot.

I don't know where to look next so, thatn you to anyone who has any clues to
offer.

The log is located at - (c:)\documents and settings\installing

Hope this helps - I've also had my share of installation issues

Thanks
I found it.
I still have no idea why the install is failing. If I repair it after the
failure it repairs fine.
The installation fails when it is trying to launch Outlook. It succeeds to
open Outlook (i know this because I can see the application in Task
Manager), but then gives up the ghost.
I have used Exchange Security settings to handle my problem with the address
book error, so basically now I have a fnctioning installation, but I have to
do the installation in two steps.

Ahh well, no rest for the wicked..

CRM VPC Internet Connection
All, How can you make Internet Connection in VPC to work, for example, you type www.google.com in IE? because I did that and it could not open. Thanks You need to check the Virtual PC or Sever options and change the network connection to External. If I recall correctly the VPC image is set to the static IP of 192.168.1.1 so you want to make sure this will not be duplicate IP on your network. You may also need to change the default gateway to match your network. (I have found that if you change the Static IP on the VPC you need to make changes in DNS for http://crm to work) "...

CRM and Outlook E-Mail exchange
Hello, we have some problems sending mail between members of our domain. When employee A (using Outlook) wants to send a mail to employee B (who is using CRM) the mail arrives at employee B's Outlook Inbox and never appears in the CRM. I figure that exchange does handle internal mail differently, is there any way to treat internal mail the same as external mail and deliver it both to CRM and Outlook-Inbox? Btw, we don't want to use SFO. Regards Tobias Internal Mail won't be handled by the exchange connector since it could only listen on the external smtp port..... Possible so...

Bug report CRM 3.0 IE client crashes when you do the following:
Start up CRM from IE, click on accounts, click on more actions, then with the drop menu displayed, click anywhere outside of the drop down menu. This causes an IE crash consistently on both IE6 and IE7. This happens other places in CRM with drop down menus. Basically, if you open a drop down menu, you better click something in it or IE will crash. Anyone have any ideas what can be done to fix this. This happens on both our development CRM box and the live server. (Completely isolated installs). You probably have patch 918899 installed. See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923762 for how to ...

Sending CRM email when outlook has multiple accounts

CRM email, FROM: common name
When I send an email from CRM Sales for Outlook or the CRM web interface, the recipient sees just my email address in the From: section of that email. I'd like something more descriptive in there, like my name - exactly what gets sent out from our Exchange 2003 server now with Outlook clients. Does anyone know if this is possible? Short-circuiting the item price sync in HQ Client
