Hi Robert,
this issue was discussed at length recently on this newsgroup.
The short answer is No.
The long answer is that you can make the checkbox bound, but it is not very
easy.
Look at this thread:

If you bind the check box value to a function, the you can do this. It is
far easier to simply add a new column. However, if you want to see a example
of a check box un-bound to an underlying field, you can find the
"multislect" example of mine here:

That's a nice hack, Albert, but to keep the OP from spending hours trying to
get it to work on his Datasheet form, he should be made aware that the form
in your example is not in Datasheet View, but rather in Continuous View, made
to look like Datasheet View! You can go into Design View and place uncound
controls on forms in Datasheet View, but they won't show up when the form is
run, much less function.

BTW, I've got your site bookmarked, and pass it on when someone has a problem
that one of your hacks can solve! Keep up the good work!

Albert, I put in a post in the reports group which refers to your WordMerge
database. I'm wondering how you customized the toolbar in that report.

how to show if at least one match exists for a record
For a given part number (Part# table) there may be one or more Defect Records (Defects table). On a form with the list of part numbers, a field will highlight if at least one Defect record exists. This form needs to have some controls that are editable. In the query for the form, I referenced another query that will return a value if at least one defect exists for the part number. Works great, but using that method makes my main query un-editable. The other method is to use a domain aggregate function on my form to reference the Defect query, but this makes the form very sluggish. Any...

CheckBox #3
Is there a way to program checkboxes so that if one box is checked, the other cannot be checked? In other words, if you check one and then another, it clears the previous one you checked. Hi Yes. Update one table from another
I am trying to update one table that has one record for each employee(table 1) with available vacation time. The other table records every time off request(table 2) and how much time they want off. I have the update query and it works fine. The problem is that everytime it is ran every requested time off amount(from table2) is subtracted from the available time(table1) again and again. I want the records for requested time(table2) to update the employee available time off(table1) only once, but keep the records on the table as that is the basis for a report. Text to columns
Once I use the Text to columns feature in Excel, it seems there is no way to turn it off. Anyone know if there is a way to reset this so that newly pasted text will not continue to get broken up (for example by the space delimiter) Presently the only way is to exit Excel and restart Excel - then pasted text all goes into one cell regardless of spaces. Hope I explained that well enough Al I may have been to hasty in making this assumption, it appears that the problem I described below is only happening on one workstation - this may indicate that the Excel Registry keys are in need of...

Safe Pay Check Amount Problem
I am trying to setup Safe Pay. Everything seems to be working fine except for one annoying quirk. Our bank's Positive Pay data format gives us 12 characters for check amounts ($$$$$$$$$$¢¢). The file that Safe Pay generates is working perfectly except for those checks that are greater than $9,999,999.99 (9 characters). If the check amount is greater than that (say $10,000,000.00), the value that the Safe Pay file shows for that check is 002147483647. And, even if none of the individual checks exceed $9,999,999.99, if the total of the checks in the batch exceeds that a...

Master/Child Links for Subform
I am trying to create a very simple form that allows me to enter 'for sale' data on items from a complete inventory table. I created 2 tables. 1 with the Master List of collectibles. The other with more detailed data for the collectibles I want to sell (Sales Data). I created a one to one 'relationship' between the 2 tables, joined by the Primary Key# of the Master List and then an ID Key# for the Sales Data (each item can only be sold once, so there are no duplicate numbers). I want to be able to pull up the table containing my Master List in the subform, filtered...

The problem I am running into is that when the user enters information in Popup1, the table has not been populated witht he data that is in the subform so there is no record to 'link' to.
