Hey Andrew....

I beg to differ.... I've used systeminfo many times on different XP Pro =
machines....

This is the first time I've ever had a problem with it.

systeminfo is the CMD prompt utility and MSINFO32 is the "almost"
equivalent Windows XP command.

From a command prompt running:

systeminfo

And from Start, Run running

msinfo32

Should both behave and provide their own presentation. The
information is not the same (close) and each contains things the other
does not.

It sounds like your WMI information files are missing or corrupted, so
replace them.

To resolve your issue, delete and then recreate the files in the
%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem\Repository folder:

1. On the Desktop, right-click My Computer, and then click Manage.

2. Under =93Services and Applications=94, click Services, and then stop
the Windows Management Instrumentation service.

3. Delete all of the files and folders that are in the %SystemRoot%
\System32\Wbem\Repository folder.

4. Restart the computer and make sure the WMI service has restarted.

The files are recreated when the computer restarts.

I see.

Does msinfo32 work when entered into Start, Run?

If yes, then when the System Summary info appears, click Edit, Select
All, Copy and then paste
the information back here.

There will be some personal information (like System Name and User
Name), and whatever appears to
be private information to you, just delete it from the pasted
information.

This will minimize back and forth Q&A and eliminate guesswork.

Tell us what else you have tried so we don't offer those alternatives.
