Corporate Configuration

Since we had Windows 2000 several years ago, we had reg-hacked a policy
setting for WSUS for our clients, which loaded the information under
LM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate...

Since we are on Windows XP SP2 going to SP3 we now have 4 separate settings
for WSUS which all workstations are in the same OU, so we only have one
policy applied. We have two separate locations with a test and prod WSUS
settings, which makes 4 different settings depending on location, target
group, servername, etc. Is there another place this can be set without
pushing a registry key down under policy?

Question, when policies don't work and we clean everything up, one extra
step was to remove the LM\software\policies and CU\Software\Policies keys and
subkeys and issuing a GPUPDATE /FORCE. When we do this, the WSUS key also
get wacked and we would manually have to remember which location and
test/Prod the client was at. 1) Is there a setting outside the policy key
that we can set up when to download, update, group

Front end/Back End configuration
I've recently been blessed with the budget to impliment an FTP server for my small business. I already have an exchange 2003 server that resides behind my firewall. Currently the only employees who have remote access to email are the ones with Laptops and VPN acess. Since I'm installing an FTP server I figured I may as well enable outlook web access for the rest of the employees who do not have company laptops. My initial thought was to install the fTP/Front End server in my DMZ of my firewall and forward the appropriate ports from firewall to LAN. However in my readings I see t...

"Sorry, you have to configure an offline folder file first"
Hi, I have Exchange 5.5 and Outlook 2000. I'm getting this message "Sorry, you have to configure an offline folder file first" poped up every 2 seconds. I do have Palm installed on my PC. Please help..... Thanks Do you need an offline file? Palm has nothing to do with this, note. If you don't need to work offline with an OST file, go to tools, services, find the properties of the Exchange server service, advanced tab, and you should be able to disable offline use. Raid Configuration Question
I am building a new server and I have some options. I will more than likely configure it as a Raid 5 configuration. I have a few questions and am just looking for some input based on people's experiences. 1. If I were to configure 3x500gb (1tb available) vs. 4x250gb (750g available), and the 500 vs. the 400 drives have identical specs except for size... will I see a performance benefit of striping over 4 drives vs. 3 drives ...

Spinoff/Demerger Corporate Events
Folks, Having given this matter some thought, I have come to the conclusion that demerger corporate events cannot be handled correctly in Microsoft Money. My understanding is that the demerger option in money merely operates by adding shares at a certain basis cost. The problem with this is which cost does one use? For the newly created share, there seem to be two costs that are relevant. One cost is the actual basis cost of the position from a tax point of view. The second relevant cost is the cost of the position using the market price on the first day of trading. If you take the first v...
