Project: Actual vs. Budget Report
I am looking for a report or to create/modify one that shows me a comparison
of what I have budgeted for a project and what is actually posted on the job
In DOS, this was a standard report called "Quantity Variance" but
AGAIN............ Dynamics scores very low for me on Project Reports. How
am I do perform an audit on a job when I don't have the reports necessary to
verify actual vs budget? what is the point of putting "forcasted"
quantities in the set-up of the job or in templates?
The performance reports provide actual vs budget information....CreatePointFont creates font of different size in VS 2005 vs. VS 2
I 'm converting projects from VS 2003 to VS 2005.
One suprising thing is a different visible font size on the screen (at some
places in my apps)
It seem that :
now creates a slightly larger font (on a 96 dpi Monitor) then before
(lfHeight=-11 vs. -10).
Is this indented?

...Change TTL ???

Each record has got a TTL box, although why are they asking you to
change your TTL? Do you control your own DNS rather than let them take
care of it?
Thanks for your reply.

Assume I have a list of names from a recent trade show. We want to bring them
into CRM for Marketing Activities. Would it be better to bring them in as
contacts, and then convert to a lead when a response is received? Our
prospect wants to keep Leads as leads and not cluttered with non-leads.
If we had another choice like 'Prospects" this would be better.
Any thoughts? Thank you in advance.
Actually, this is the true definition of a Lead. These are non-qualified
Leads and you have no idea if they are insterested in your products or not.

Has anyone here developed a custom report (RMS Active Report or Crystal
Report) which gives a breakdown of sales by a certain period (usually by
month), then compares that to the same period in a prior year?
Our retail division manager is trying to see, at one glance, how sales in
2006, broken down by month, compare to sales during the same month last
year. I can generate a SQL query to do this, and I can dump the results into
Excel, but I'd like her to be able to do this herself and have a formatted

Very interesting discovery.
To corrupt resource file (assumes APS absent):
1. Open project.
2. Open resource from project.
a. MS sees that an APS file is missing
b. MS incorrectly constructs the APS file
c. MS removes all languages except AFX_TARG_ENU
3. Edit and Save the resorce using the MS editor
4. All Languages removed.
To preserve resource file (assumes APS absent):
1. Open resource from Windows explorer.

I just have a quick question. One of our Windows based application
uses the registry for configuration type options and some other
things. I want to modify our application to move to use a XML file
instead of the registry. The other engineer argues that it is faster
and easier to manipulate the registry than File I/O operations with
the XML file.
I just wanted ask you guys what are the strengths and weaknesses with
using a XML file over the registry?
I generally prefer the XML file.

How should a 4x6 in Landscape document be set-up?
Should I set the Paper Size first or the Page size?
Also, it is important to note that while I want the document to print in

because of its small size.
Your printer needs to be setup first. What version Publisher?

I'm a bit baffled by all this talk of the .Net framework and managed

I have a distributed app with quite a bit of VBA for the different forms and
reports, as well as some global code in modules. My question is actually in
first, if I have two fields I want to perform some data verification on in
the OnBeforeUpdate event and the resulting code is almost identical except
for field names, can I modify and put the code in one of the global modules
to eliminate the duplicate subroutine?
second, in a more general vein, what's the advantage of local routines over
global routines? is it more than just pre-defined scope?

Last week my ISP had a range of IPs blacklisted and mine is in that range.
I asked my ISP to try and sort it out. They asked me to fix a problem with
my domain's DNS, which I did.
Now they have written back to me telling me I have to change the MX record
TTL from 3600 seconds to at least one day. I have never heard of this
requirement before, and I don't know how to change it.
The DNS servers where the domain MX records are kept are Windows 2003 DNS.
Does anyone know where I can set the MX record TTL?

I am trying to embed some option buttons on a worksheet. I want to
have two sets of buttons which are mutually exclusive, say A-D and
then 1-3. I want to start with 1-3 hidden and if the user chooses
option D from the first set then 1-3 will be revealed. I did this fine
with the activex option buttons and VBA, however, it is not
recognizing A-D and 1-3 as separate groups. Therefore, as soon as the
user select 1,2 or 3, it will uncheck D and therefore rehide the
remaining numbered boxes. I grouped and named each set of buttons
together, but that did not work. If I try to use a group...Local Data vs Outlook Sync

I wanted to ask the community if there is a preferred route as regards
checkboxes within Word 2003 documents.
Having experience of protected form checkboxes I do like them, but don't
like the scale of the restrictions that come with protected forms (sure they
can be worked around but why have to)!
I do like ActiveX controls but I understand from a previous post that
overuse of them can be the cause of scrolling and/or performance issues.
So, I wondered if anybody has a view or even any suggestions regarding any
alternatives that would be useful to me.

I've seen the practice of using queries in forms. Is this recommended? Why?
That is... I am pretty much making data entry forms and am basing them off
of the tables. Should I be making queries of these tables and basing the
forms off of these instead?
If so, should this practice include "look up tables" (tables that I'm using
in multiple combo boxes for multiple fields on the form - they just have an
ID (primary key) and a field for categories such as "0-25%", "26-50%", etc.)?
