DST issue

I entered the catalog item:

<Feature Name="Item" CatalogItemId="Item:MS:sysgen_timesvc_dst" />

and confirmed that the device has the registry key:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Clock\AutoDST = 1

But the device still does not automatically adjust for DST. I set the
timezone to Pacific, set the time to 3/14/2010 at 1:59AM, waited for one
minute...and the time changed to 2:00AM instead of 3:00AM.

What am I missing?

Thanks.

You also need to be aware that you have to establish the time as "standard
time", by setting the clock to a time that *definitely* is standard time,
before that DST/standard flag will be set properly and the transition will
occur. It's not a matter of the service simply always adding an hour when
the time has passed. It will only do that if the flag indicated "standard"
and is changing to "DST" (or vice versa later in the year). I usually change
the time to the day before the transition and make sure to apply that change
from the date/time control panel applet, then change it to
nearly-the-transition-time and wait for the transition.

Note also that your real-time clock system must be able to set date/time
alarms in order for the transitions to occur. The service uses
CeRunAppAtTime() to trigger an event at the next transition time. If you
have an external clock chip and are using that for the date/time get/set, but
are not using it for alarm setting, it's quite possible that your alarm will
not go off at the right time and the transition won't occur when you expect
it. I've done this myself, as you can tell. This is BSP-level stuff.

If you installed the private source code, you can look at the source for the
time service (servers\timesvc or servers\timesvc2).

DST Question
All, Can anyone tell me how recurring appointments that fall within the beginning and ending windows of the new DST will respond once Exchange/Outlook have been patched? I somehow got tasked to explaining this to our user group... My understanding is that recurring appointments that were originally set up within one of the windows will show a 1 hour difference from expected during the windows. For example, in 2006 I created a recurring appointment on March 8, with the time being set to 2:00 Central. My expectation is that during the start window, this appointment will show 3:00 Cent...

Strange OWA Issue
We're having a very strange OWA issue and can't pin it down to any sort of change or other issue short of a drive array fail-over to a hot spare. Users can login to OWA without issue and open items but once those items are open they cannot action them. The window containing their item changes to the double pane OWA view (a mirror of what they already had open) and gives an "Internet Explorer cannot open the internet site" <URL> / Operation Aborted. Upon hitting ok, the mirrored site closes down with the standard OWA shutdown security warning. Actioning an ite...

More DST stuff
Hey guys, So I'm at the point where I need to install 926666 (all server OS and clients are patched). My question relates to a posting on the MSExchange team site that says in order to avoid issues with 926666 that the store version should be atleast 7650.23. I have E2K3 with SP2 installed and my store version is only 7638.2. Any idea what will get my store level up? WIndows update would be reasonable but how would windows updates affect my store version? Exchange 2003/Outlook 2003 DST
I have installed the OS Patch, Exchange Patch and I'm running the tool. Are the appointments from Mar 12 - Apr 4, and the last week in Oct. supposed to be off by an hour, or am I missing something? Thank you, BM I did the same thing. Patched the OS, Patched Exchange 2003sp2 and then ran the tool. The tool did not correct the time appointments displayed from Mar 12 - April 4. In fact, in some cases it moved appointments that were already displaying correctly and left the incorrectly displayed appointments alone. "BM" wrote: > I have installed the OS Patch, Excha...

Default Printing Issue
We are using GP in a Terminals Services enviroment. All users access GP via a Terminal Server. The issue we are having is that the default printer for each user changes (In GP ONLY), the default printer for the TS desktop stays as it should. What could be the issue. I'm having a bit of an issue determining which printer is defaulting and which isn't. And which that you want. But I guess suffice to say it isn't the one you want. I would guess your issue is one that another customer I was working with was running into - they were using I think Windows 2008 Remote ...

Integration Transaction Order Issue
We just switched from using Integration Assistant for Excel to Integration Manager 9.0. The integrations are defined the same way for both programs. When the General Journal integrations run they complete without errors/warnings. But when you view the transactions in the batch in Great Plains the transactions are not in the same order as they were in the Excel spreadsheet. They seem to be very random. The total dollar amounts balance and the integration runs successfully but we can't get the transactions to maintain their order from the Excel spreadsheet. We can't use a so...

DST
I have read a lot of posts about the DST change but I am still a little confused; please help me out! We have Exchange 2000 running on Windows 2000 Server. It looks like Microsoft is not going to release publicly the DST patches for either of these. My questions are these: 1. For the OS, we just have to manually run the Time Zone Editor (Tzedit.exe tool) to update the OS? If we use the East coast of the US (New York), we just have to update the Eastern Time, right? Not the Pacifix Time, etc? 2. For our Exchange 2000, is the Exchange patch and the CDO update the same thing? If ...

DST Exchange patch after DST desktop patch? Any conflicts?
We are getting ready to do the DST patch on the Exchange servers. I was wondering if there will be any problems if some of our users have jumped the gun and installed the desktop patch themselves already? Will the Exhcange patch be able to tell whcih mailboxes have already been patched by the users? I don't want to adjust the time twice. VBA Coding Issue
Right. I am very new to this whole thing but I have a basic understanding of Access and almost completely no knowledge of VBA Coding. OWA and DST
All, we ran the DST tools on ISA server including the vbscript that modifies permissions so that another script can change user's calendars.
