Taskbar issue

Hello All

I'm hoping someone can help me with this long-standing problem with both XP
and Vista on separate laptops and every computer I've had (except I think
Win98). I'm thinking there may be no solution, but what it's worth a try.

With both of my machines, I have the taskbar (as well as other toolbars) set
out to maximum size - typically half the screen - and to auto hide. (This
makes a great program and file launcher)

The issue is that the operating system decides it wants open the taskbar on
its own from time to time on its own. Various things prompt this, maybe even
for things happening background - checking mail perhaps, printing? It seems
as though Windows decides on its own that the taskbar need to be in focus
and automatically raises it - maybe momentary or maybe as long as 10 seconds
as so, depending on what's going on. (Maybe it has to do with the system
tray items? I'm pretty sure it's a built-in and not a problem with the
machines) Since the taskbar is on top, I frequently have to drag it down to
the smallest size so I can continue to work on the stuff behind it and then,
after Windows decides it's okay to auto hide it again, drag it back up to
full size. This is really tiresome and annoying.

Does anyone have a solution or work-around? It there a way to prevent the
taskbar from popping up at all except for when I move the cursor to the
bottom of the page? I know I can uncheck the option not to have it appear on
top of other windows. But then I'll need to hide the other windows to access
the taskbar.

Thanks for any thoughts.

Regards,
Anthony Giorgianni

There's another option to keep all application windows on top of the task
bar. Right click the task bar, go to Properties, click the task bar tab,
and un-check the option "keep taskbar on top of other windows".

Maybe that's more what you want; but it may still come back to 'focus' if
there's an event that triggers it, like new mail notification or any other
sys tray icon/event, but at least you can keep it "out of the way" if that's
what you're wanting.

To activate the task bar/start menu, just hit the 'Win' key on your
keyboard, that will activate it, and then just click an empty area of the
taskbar to make it remain in focus, and then when finished, click on the
application window you were working on.

My 1099 issue
We're on v9. My Acctg Manager want the AP staff to input 1099 TAX info when setting up new vendors and not have it default and be able to 'save' a new vendor to 'Not a 1099 Vendor' as it does now. What I'm looking for is when setting up a new vendor, the user must go to the Vendor Mtce Options screen and be obliged to enter a Tax Type from the pull down. ActiveX Controls Display Issue?
All, I am starting out learning vba/vbe, but I am having problems controlling the ActiveX control objects. When I insert buttons and boxes from the forms toolbar, they work fine (except they don't have the same capabilities as ActiveX controls), when I insert ActiveX controls, I am getting wierd font behavior. When the object is selected, the text in the object looks fine. But when I select a worksheet cell or another object, the font goes wierd. Each letter in the text appears to get wider, so they run into eachother and look weird. As the users selects different buttons, the...

Number Format Issue
It seems that from time to time, some of our numbers get into Excel 2002 as text and will not sort properly. I know how to fix, by using the Multiply feature in Paste Special to multiply all the offending numbers by 1. The question is, what causes this to occur when we start out with the General format, and certainly do not format the cells as text? Thanks in advance Hi, Do you paste anything into the sheet? Do you copy from one sheet to another? Do you imprt or get external data into this sheet? >-----Original Message----- >It seems that from time to time, some of our numbers ...

Compatability Issues XL97
Is there a site you can view or find out about the differences between XL97 and XP. I have just sent a file to a colleague and it is working fine in my version of Excel 97. I'm using Office 2007 with Windows XP, SP3. I have show all windows in the taskbar checked off in options, but all my open Word documents are in one window. I don't know how to explain that any better; I have to click on the window, and my documents are listed there. Then I need to click on the one I want to open. CRM Address Book Syncronization Issue
Hello, We recently upgraded to Exchange 2007, and since that upgrade I have been having issues with only one of my crm for outlook clients. We are currently using CRM 4.0 with rollup 6. The symptoms my user is experiencing has to do with syncing. After a few minutes of Outlook being online, the system tray icon for CRM will say that CRM is syncing with outlook. This syncing causes Outlook to freeze up and the only way to get out is to kill the process. My exchange server also has shown an error related to that particular user having more than the default 250 mapi connections. I see a K...

font issue
I've received a document that opens as "Parade" font. The document (all 145 pages) needs a complete reformat which is going to take hours, if not days, to do. This document has been opened on the original PC and did not need the reformating. However, the original PC has now been wiped clean. Could my issue perhaps be that "Parade" is not one of the fonts installed with Office 2007? I am thinking that perhaps "Parade" was installed with a Greetings Workshop installation to the original (now wiped clean with installation CD's gone) PC. Cou...

Office 2008 Speed/Issues: Post SP1
We've had SP1 for a bit now, and I was wondering how it's treating everyone. For me, all the apps seem much more stable once they are up and running, but getting them there (i.e., launching them) still seems to take longer than it should: Excel is the fastest, Word is the slowest, with PowerPoint in the middle (don't use Entourage). Relaunching seems to take less time than initial launch, but the speed at which relaunch happens seems to vary greatly for no reason (but faster than pre-SP1). Word (my mainstay) seems to appear on the screen faster than it did, but there is still a la...

Strange Taskbar Problem
I normally set up my taskbar two rows in heighth with the quick launch icons on the far left. This leaves the middle section for the "open tabs". I recently did a clean reinstall (restored an image) and somewhere in that process or the ensuing windows updates, the taskbar layout got all screwed up and I am unable to make it right. This is what is there now (with the task bar unlocked so the "dotted section divider lines" are visible: On the far left next to the Start button is the first set of divider lines. Partitioning Issue
Sorry to post this here, but I got no response in the Replication forum: We have several large views (100G to about 800G) of horizontally, locally partitioned data in SS 2005. Now, when I say horizontally partitioned, I mean in the 2000 sense of the word. These big views and underlying tables were moved to 2005 when we did a 2005 upgrade but are still partitioned the old way. These big 2000-partitioned tables are all pushed via transaction replication to a couple of other subscribers, which are also Sql Server 2005. This works very well for us when we have to reinitialize,...
