Windows Server Backup - How do you register applicatitions e.g. Exchange??
I want to go through the restoration process of Exchange date - the entire database, individual mailboxes, emails etc. My lab setup is as follows (all in a vmware machine):- Windows Server 2008 Exchange 2007 (32-bit/sp1/eval) Email flow etc works fine. I've taken a full backup using windows server backup. When I come to restore the backup in the Select recovery type screen the option for Applications is greyed out. It says that you can recover applications that have registered with Windows Server Backup. I need to find out how to get Exchange to register with Windows Server Backup. Again this is all for testing purposes - on my SBS 2008 production DC the options are all present. I want to do this in my lab simply for testing/practice purposes. Can anyone advise me on how to do this? Thanks

I was recovering an Exchange server this way yesterday, so it was fresh in my mind, but it was on the 2003 platform. This feature was specific to SBS until the release of Exchange 2007 SP2. Thanks Leonid I'll check that link out. Merv - no I've got Server 2008 set up as a DC running under VMware, with Exchange 2007 SP2 - purely a lab/testing environment. I want to go through the actual routine of restoring individual emails, mailboxes etc etc. For this I chose the 32-bit eval copy. All I need to find out is how to register Exchange 2007 SP2 with Server Backup 2008 on a standard 2008 server.

Leonid - that link you posted doesn't actually say HOW to register Exchange with Windows Server Backup. I'm still stumped.

I've just double checked on my lab setup and it doesnt look like Exchange SP2 installed properly - it's still showing as SP1. I'll reinstall SP2 and re-check the backup options.

how to archive all incoming/outgoing emails on exchange 2003
We recently upgraded from exchange 5.5 to exchange 2003. On exchange 5.5, we used to archive all incoming and outgoing mails (using the diagnostic log I think). I apologize for asking a FAQ, but I've looked through old posts, I've looked in the Microsoft KB, I've looked on the web, I've checked several MVP sites, and I'm still not getting an answer that works. Hello: I currently have a 2000 AD network. I need to deploy Exchange 2010 as soon as I can. With my 2000 AD this is not possible. Due to my need to deploy quickly I was thinking I could do the following: 1. Deploy a 2008 AD 2. Create a trust relationshipe between the 2000 & 2008 domains 3. Outlook Mail not working with Windows 7
I have Windows 7 Home Premium (64 Bit) and Office 2003 Pro. I setup my POP3 e-mail account and was able to send and receive mail once. I setup a second POP3 account and neither will work. I installed Outlook 2007 with the same result. From what I have read, the 32 bit OS does not have this problem. So far, no one has been able to come up with a work around for this. I have two questions. Our email server is running win2k and exchange 2k3. We have a dual processor P3 650mhz with 1gb ram 210gb raid data drive. This is all for 100 users. Our email is taking up to 1 hour to send or recieve. Is our server underpowered? I need to add a second domain set of e-mail addresses to our Exchange server. I have updated all MX records as required on the domain and added the second domain to the default recipient policy on the server. Slow server
I have two questions. Our email server is running win2k and exchange 2k3. We have a dual processor P3 650mhz with 1gb ram 210gb raid data drive. This is all for 100 users. Our email is taking up to 1 hour to send or recieve. Is our server underpowered? Also I am getting alot of application log errors saying a non-delivery report with status code of 4.0.0 (or sometimes 5.0.0 or 5.4.0) has been gererated. What does this mean and how do I fix it. Hello all, I am hoping someone out there can help me out. I am going to use the domain xyz.com as an example. Our problem is that our mail is sometimes being rejected from some smtp servers because of our fully qualified smtp hostname, which is showing up as hostname-exch.xyz.local. To remove the ".local" part, do I need to go through the trouble of changing our domain name or is there a simple change I can make on the server which will change the name from hostname-exch.xyz.local to hostname-exch.xyz.com.
