SBS 2008 Std. - Configuring WSUS 3.0

Setup: SBS 2008 Std, with two WinXP Pro PC's in the domain. Firewall is a
SonicWall TZ-100. ISP is Windstream.

We've had the server less than a month and are slowly rolling out features.
Convinced the boss to let me install WSUS, but I'm confused. In a previous
job I managed SBS 2003 with ISA 2004; it was quite clear what my proxy
server was. However, that was the ONLY network I ever worked in as the sole
admin.
What's going on is that I can't detect computers from within the SBS
console. I'm pretty sure I got the GPO's right for the PC's and server.
I've rebooted all to force GP updates, but still nothing. Checked the
server event viewer logs for Windows Update Client and saw a lot of failures
to connect. Makes me think that I should configure the SonicWall as the
proxy within the WSUS setup. Am I right? Or do we even have a proxy?

WSUS 3.0 is installed by default as are the GP's when SBS 2008 is =
installed
You shouldn't have had to do anything other than the first synch (if you =

Shoot, screwed that one up. I'll get the 3 guides on the WSUS page at MS,
read through them and see where to go from here.

Can XIRR start with a "0" in the first period
I am having issues calculating XIRR. When my first cash flow is 0, I get an error message, even though a regular IRR calc allows a 0 in the first period. Is this just the way XIRR works or is there a way I can get around it? Thanks for you help. carlsondaniel@gmail.com wrote: > I am having issues calculating XIRR. SBS 2003 to SBS 2008 migration headache!
Hi folks, Hoping someone can help me :( After spending yesterday prepping the source server- running both SBS 2003 Best Practices Analyzer and Exchange Best Practices Analyzer (and resolving all issues until they both came back clean), full backup, Migration Prep Tool, answer file etc I was finally ready to get going with the destination server today. I was very thorough with the documentation, taking it all step by step. All looked well, until it seemed to hang on what looked to be a final step. I don't recall getting the replication delay pop-up that I've seen m...

OWA setup on SBS 2003
Hi, I can't access OWA on an SBS 2003 server, for any user. Not sure what is stopping it - is it ISA settings? I've checked in Active Directory Users and Domains under the user and they are permitted to use OWA. Also tried to connect using Sever Activesync and a smart phone, but that failed too. Hope you can help. Neil Hi, Could be ISA server stopping OWA from functioning, could also be a lot of other things (like permisions on folders, web site etc). What happens when you try to access OWA? Plotting 3 dimensional co-ordinates
I have a series of data in x, y, z co-ordinates and want to know if it is possible to plot these in excel, as I can only seem to find thet it plots in the x and y axis. Thanks The best that XL offers is a 3D surface plot in which the x and y axis are 'category' axis and only the z axis is a numeric one. If your x and y values are equi-distant, check the Excel/Charts/3D Surface page of my web site for more on the subject. -- Regards, Tushar Mehta www.tushar-mehta.com Excel, PowerPoint, and VBA add-ins, tutorials Custom MS Office productivity solutions In article <d97001c4...

Hello, I just received an e-mail from my bank which states they will no longer be supporting MS Money 2000 or 2001. I currently have Money 2000. I am looking to upgrade, however do NOT wish to lose any of my financial data or the ease of epaying my bills. When I upgrade, do I delete the old MS Money and leave the *.mny file ? Or do I complete an install and let Money 05 remove the old MS Money ? thanks for your help, Jason Already replied to. new version for 2008-2009
I have Money 2006 and am perfectly happy with it but the stock updates will stop in September of 2008. I guess I have to upgrade. will there be a new version this summer? Only time will tell. I'm wondering if Money Plus wasn't called Money 2008 so they could break the annual cycle and not have the box label spoil the effect. can't open outlook #3
My Outlook just stopped working all of a sudden. I can't open it at all. If I have to reload it, is there a way I can save the emails and calendar stuff so I won't lose it all? Thanks! As long as your emails and calendars are stored in a .pst file, you shouldn't have to worry about them. Find it and make a copy prior to re-loading if that will give you a little piece of mind. >-----Original Message----- >My Outlook just stopped working all of a sudden. I can't >open it at all. Migrating AD Back to SBS
We had a domain which was working in a SBS2003 normally but since we had to change the hardware we added a second DC which is a windows 2008 and transferred all the roles to it, and let it working alone. Everything is fine now with the win2008 as a only Domain Controller We now have to reinstall back the SBS2003 and transfer everything to it from the win2008, is that possible? is there any how-to or best practices? As it seems that all i can do is start a new domain from scratch. Thanks, Chris There is an official MS document for adding SBS 2003 to a Server 2003 domain, but...

Upgrade Path
I wanted to move my CRM Server to a Web Server, off of the SBS 2003 machine. I accomplished this using CRM 3.0 Professional. Now I would like to re-import my customizations and my data. I'm just thinking out loud, but here is what I would presume the requirements to be for this: 1. Uninstall the CRM 3.0 SBE Server from the SBS 2003 machine (after backing everything up) 2. Delete the Existing CRM 3.0 / SQL 2005 Database 3. Install CRM 3.0 Pro on Web Server (Windows 2003 R2 Member Server) with the Same Organization Name 4. Import the Customizations 5. Restore the Datab...

So I whas thinking to my buttons: During reinstallation, can I now use the latest ver...

GP 9.0 Login Issues
There are two users that are having issues logging into great plains and keeping connected. It doesn't happen every day, only sometimes, but whenever one of them logs in to Great Plains 9.0 it kicks the other user out, even if they are the only two users on the system with 10 users allowed at a time. At times when one person logs in she sees the welcome screen of the other person that usually kicks her out. I wondered if this has happened to anyone else and how it could possibly be resolved. As far as I know these are the only two users it happens to. They both have completely sepa...
