Cant Install Windows Live Messenger (msn)

I clickd on a link from a friend in an msn/windows live messenger 
conversation which turned out to be a virus type thing, so i deleted Windows 
Live Messenger and Changed the Password on my Comp and hotmail acount. then 
proceeded to download Windows Live Mesenger but it said i already have it. so 
ive searched my computer and it dosnt appear to be there at all?
anyone know whats up here??

Greetings Jaimie,

If you manually delete Messenger by just deleting the folder (or something similar), Windows 
will still consider it installed.

You can use ZapMessenger to quickly solve this and then reinstall at your leisure:

ahh thank you for your help. i shall remember that for future reference. a 
friend helped me with the problem in the end, i finally found where it was to 
uninstall, it was called windows live essentials, which is why i was unable 
to find it to uninstall it.

Hi,

Ah, you didn't actually remove anything, you just couldn't find it (it is pretty silly where 
they have it now).  No need to ZapMessenger anything then, the Live Essentials installer is 
technically the "correct way".

Cant delete any messages

Windows Sever 2003 STD
Our Windows Server 2003 STD has a TSSTcorp DVD+-RW TS-H553A drive. Problem, it will not recognize DVDs. Has no problem with CDs. At my school each pupil now has individual login username and password. I recently had to reinstall Office2007 because an update was corrupted. Transferring messages from Windows Mail (vista) to WLM (win7)
Have a new computer with Win7. Was able to transfer contacts from WM on old vista machine using WM export and WLM import using a flash drive. Exported inbox and sent items folders from old WM machine using File->Export->Messages->Microsoft Windows Mail, put them on the flash drive, plugged it into new machine and did WLM - File->Import->Messages->Windows Mail. I've got an older desk top with an aging hard drive that has a bad whine. This machine is used for a very limited application, and is fine for that use - except for the noise. There is nothing in the Office 2004 package that instructs what to do with the old Office X applications. I was surprised to see that Office 2004 is completely new application installation - and not a modification of base code of the old Office X. What should I do - just delete the old Office X apps?
