Edit and continue, build failed but "Error List" is empty

Hi,

I am using VS Team System 2008 (.NET 3.5 SP1) on WinXP pro.

When I create a brand new dialog project, (file->new->Project...), and
run it without changing a single line of code, everything works as
expected.

If I put a break point in InitInstance(), run it to that break point
and add a line that will cause an error.
I get the usual error message :

"Edits were made which cannot be compiled."
"Click Edit to fix the code"
"Click Stop to stop debugging"
"Click Ignore to continue without applying the edits."

If I click 'Edit' I get the error list but the list is empty, it
contains nothing.
I have selected to show all the errors but all the tabs show '0
Errors, 0 Warnings, 0 Messages'

What could be the problem?

Thanks

Simon

I have chalked this up to poor implementation of the rebuild. It was broken in 2005, and
apparently not repaired in 2008. It is extremely annoying that such a critical feature
has been broken for all these years.

I've had trouble with this with resources because, for some reason, they are
not counted in the rebuild under some circumstance. When it happens I just
do a regular build and it works OK, but I lose my debugging spot.

VS2005 Error List
Hi guys, I notice that I only get a refreshed error list when I do a full rebuild. I usually get warnings for casts I didn't do explicitly, but I can only see those after a rebuild. Can I set it so I always get those warnings, even when just compiling a single file ? I'm using VS2005 Pro (SP1+SP1 Vista) on Vista Ultimate. VS 2008 Error List
I've updated a reference in my VS.NET 2008 web project that I know will cause errors (methods no longer supported, etc). The class is used by multiple pages in my project, however when I build or rebuild the project, only the errors on any file(s) are shown in the Error List. If a file with an error is not open it is not listed in the Error List. Is there a setting for this or another way to cause the Error List to show all project errors?
