Project 2007 - Reset Task Durations

I am running Project locally, not on a server.
Suppose I want all of the tasks to be changed to 7.5 hr calculation or 37.5
hr week. Will it work to assign the entire project and sub-tasks all to 7.5
hrs/37.5 hr week or do I need to do all individual tasks that way?

In other words, what’s the highest level that I can set the tasks to this
setting?
And what is the best way to do this?

Select all tasks you want to change to the same value, then click the Task
information icon (or Shift+F2).

Fields you can't set are grayed out.

Hi Carl,

I'm not sure I understand your exact requirement.
Your current durations are stored by Project in minutes.
Say your current setting is 8H/day then a task showing as 5 days is in fact
stored as 2400 minutes.

Now do you want that task to SHOW as 5,33 days (of 7,5 hrs) which leaves its
duration unchanged, or do you want its duration to CHANGE to 2250 minutes
(i.e. 5 days f 7,5 hours)?

The first problem is simple enough, change Working Time to 7,5 hrs per day
and in Tools, Options, Calendar, change hours per day and Hours per week to
the appropriate number.

The second problem cannot be solved through a setting, each task has to be
changed.
There is a simpel VBA procedure (macro) that can do that for you:

Sub ChDur
dim Job as task
for each job in activeproject.tasks
if not job is nothing then
if not job.summary then
job.duration=job.duration *7.5/8
end if
end if
next job
end sub

Hope this helps,

My Word 2007 Crashed Whenever I Open It 03-14-10
Whenever I open Word or click on a word file, the Word GUI opens and immediately stops responding. The file doesn't load, and none of the buttons can be pressed - I just see a word window without a document and toolbars which can't be pressed. What should I do in order to begin troubleshooting? Thanks. See the article "Problems opening Word” at: http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/ProbsOpeningWord.htm -- Hope this helps. Reset of PO, SO sequence numbers
GP 9, SP2, SQL Version. On separate occaisions, our P/O numbering sequence has been reset (to a lower number) as well as the S/O numbering sequence. Has anyone seen this before and know the cause? K It just happened to us last week, too (and has before). I don't know what causes it. Auto Fill function in Excel 2007 not working properly
I cannot get the Auto Fill function to increase values in a series, and I feel certain I'm doing it right: First, I tried typing a series of values in a column like this: Cell A1, I typed 1. Cell B1, I typed 2. Then, I selected both cells with the mouse, and then moved to the lower right corner of Cell B1 and left-clicked and held the mouse button down. Then I dragged the mouse button down several columns. The little pop-up message seemed to indicate that it was repeating 1, 2, 1, 2. When I released the mouse button, it had actually filled a 1 in each cell! After several ...

DPM 2007 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 SP2 Hyper-V Failover Cluster
Should DPM 2007 SP1 be able to backup virtual machines that are in a Windows Server 2008 SP2 Hyper-V fail over cluster? Each VM has a dedicated LUN at this point in time. From previous experience the backups appear to be inconsistent from the stand point of if the machine is migrated to another host the backup breaks. Has anyone successfully implemented backups for this type of environment? DPM 2007 SP1 does officially support backing up VMs on Windows 2008 SP2 Hyper-V Clusters. -- Narendran[MSFT] This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confer...

Printing Monthly Calendar (Outlook 2007)
My work has upgraded from Outlook 2003 to Outlook 2007. Every month I print off the monthly view so I can monitor regular events. Outlook 2003 monthly print option only displayed the current month (5 weeks). In Outlook 2007 I am getting a six week view which is compressing the meeting information and displaying some of the next month. Is there a way I can set this so I only get the current month ? -- Malcolm Do you have all the latest updates installed? Outlook 2007 should print exactly 1 month - but there was a bug in early builds and it always did 6 weeks. -- Diane P...

Weird message when opening Word 2007
Since upgrading to Windows 7, I'm getting a strange message when I open Word 2007, which I never got using previous Windows versions. It says: Word could not create the work file. Check the temp environment variable. When I click the OK button, Word opens up and there does not seem to be any problems, but I'd like to get rid of these messages. How can I do that? When Word starts it needs to create a raft of temporary files - some in the working folder, others in the User's temporary folder. The message suggests that Word cannot locate the temporary folder or that it c...

Outlook 2007 won't open
Sometimes I close Outlook 2007 when I'm working during the day and then when I try to open it it won't open. The other MS applications in the 2007 suite open OK all the time. It is only Outlook that does this - maybe 2 or 3 times a day. I have to re-boot to gain access to it again. If, after trying to launch Outlook 2007 I do a restart, the application opens momentarily before Windows logs off and the computer restarts. -- John F XPproSP2 Maybe OL isnt exiting correctly, and as such your Processes Tab will show an instance of Outlook.exe still running (Cntr+Alt+Del > ...
