POS 2009 Add-In: Populating a Task Pad

I would like to create a custom application that has the ability to maintain
the items that are on certain Task Pads within POS 2009. These items would
all be regular menu items (ex: hamburger, hot dog, french fries, etc) and not
functions.

For example, if a task pad was supposed to allow the cashier quick access to
daily specials, then this custom application would need to be able to clear
the task pad each day and add the items for that day.

Is this going to be possible? Please provide some guidance.

Thank you,
Sean

Sean,

Yes you can. Go into Practice Mode and select the Coffee shop database =
for some examples.

If you wish to play Settings | Task Pads | Coffee shop or the Tailspin =
Toys. Help is available there too.

Hi Jeff,

I really appreciate your taking the time to respond to my post, but i'm not
sure if you actually answered m spacific question. I am looking to be able
to create a task pad for "Daily Specials" and have that task pad only display
the items that are availably that day. I need to be able to setup a 28 day
(for example) rotating schedule.

I am prepared to create a custom application that will allow us to maintain
this schedule, but I don't know how to have this custom application update a
task pad within POS 2009. I need to be able to clear the task pad and then
add the items for that day. I have been trying to figure out where the task
pads are stored in the database with the idea that I could directly at the
database level in a API was not available.

If your original reply did actuall address this, then could you please
elaborate?

Thank you,
Sean

Hi Sean,

Sorry, I missed the daily part.

There is a TaskPadHelper.exe file that is part of the =
MSPOS2009PartnerTools (also called the Rapid Implementation Tools) that =
will allow one to import/export TaskPads. One could use a schedule =
program to update the TaskPad in the middle of the night. The RIT also =
contains TaskPad functions and commands, caption types, colors, =
definition files and button definitions in .XML

Contact your reseller for the file.

Great Plains 9.0 Quicklinks
The ability to establish quicklinks to modules or products that are considered "ass-ons" would be helpful for ease of navigation within the system. Fixed Assets happens to be the module/product that could not be added as a quicklink. In addition, when using the toolbar to set-up a shortcut, you can only choose the module at it's highest level (cannot select specific functions within the Fixed Assets module). ---------------- This post is a suggestion for Microsoft, and Microsoft responds to the suggestions with the most votes. My question is if we now activate and register the software with the supplied Product Key will we have problems in a couple of monthe when we plan on replacing our POS computer with a new one? Can we just install the software again on the new POS computer using the same Product Key and leave our Back Office computer the way it is? Customizing the POS Screen
Is there a way to add Unit of Measure to the POS screen? I own a Garden Center, and it is critical that our sales staff knows this, because we sell items multiple units - so that they don't mess up. You can't change the display of the transaction screen itself, but you may be able to use a customized HTML Status page to display additional information, or an HTML Addin (see drilldown.htm) to display addtional information before adding the item to the transaction. You might also be able to do something with matrix or lot-matrix items to force a quantity selection. Check with y...

why do reminders restart after tasks have been marked complete?
After several years of problem-free use, my Outlook 2007 Tasks have begun generating reminders every evening for tasks that have been marked 'complete'. The due dates and reminder dates are being changed from their original dates and then reminders come up. Although reminders are generated, these tasks do not reappear in the To Do bar. These may be unrelated, but they started happening at the same ti...
