our small (12 person) office, running an exchange server is running into "email storage issues"... generally, appropriate to the nature of the business, the email is stored in subfolders within the public folder. the emails frequently have attachments, occasionally 6M to 14M in size. This quickly max's the maximum storage capacity. (a "dead filing / archive" routine is in place and active) there is a STRONG opinion on "one side" of the office that attachments ought to be stripped and stored elsewhere. the "other" side feels that this is "a pain in the ..." -the files need to be stripped, stored, frequently renamed, and most significantly (aside from the time it takes to...) there is, after stripping no record on the email of there having been an attachment; additionally, it is frequently appropriate to have the attachment "immediately available" when dealing with the emails issues (i.e. attached to it). other suggestions have been to drag all the emails (with their attachment) to a "normal" folder (outside of outlook); of course doing this also strips all sorts of useful tools (ex: being able to sort by the senders name...) --->does anyone know of a forum, discussion, or web site that deals with this issue. thanks in advance, mark (from one of the office "sides" -you guess which one LOL !)

all I was really hoping for was direction to a site that would have that
discussion started; within our office we are definitely having
"discussion"; but, in a very real way, it's the uniformed strongly arguing
with the uniformed -both reinventing the wheel!
(so a site with some "expert" insight will be very much welcome)

I would think that any "expert' would have to make a thorough =
examination of your business operation before providing a =
recommendation. Factors would include type of data contained in =
attachments, frequency with which they're accessed by multiple people, =
level of in-house support for Exchange server, server configuration, =

User's computer is not a member of the domain. Mail flows and all looks good till you start the OOF thing. It will just tell you it cannot connect to the server because it's currently unavailable. Hello. I copied my PST file from my D: drive to my F: drive. I then went into "Data File Management" to get the new location recognized and to have all future mail sent to that location. After doing this, my custom settings, like new folders, date settings, columns, etc, are all back to their default settings. Hi there; When a certian user opens outlook, and clicks on sort by size, half of her e-mails disappear, and "none" is displayed. She said this happened to her at home, except she was on her normal view which is sort by date. The only way that I can recreate the problem is to click on sort by size. I can not get disk 2 to install. It preloads then as files start to copy, it stalls then ends with error message. this is office2000 professional 2 cd set. everything else works exept publisher and its components. Outlook 2003
Hello. I copied my PST file from my D: drive to my F: drive. I then went into "Data File Management" to get the new location recognized and to have all future mail sent to that location. After doing this, my custom settings, like new folders, date settings, columns, etc, are all back to their default settings. outlook 2003 memory leak? /messages display as"none" and eats up memory
Hi there; When a certian user opens outlook, and clicks on sort by size, half of her e-mails disappear, and "none" is displayed. She said this happened to her at home, except she was on her normal view which is sort by date. The only way that I can recreate the problem is to click on sort by size. If you click on one of the "none's" or even hover the mouse over it, the memory will spike up! I had the performance tab open while I was doing this, and the memory being used was read at 1.46 GB! Debugger comes up when attaching files to Outlook 2002
I have a pro bono non-profit client running win xp sp3 & ms office pro. Last week she reported that every time she tried to attach a file to an outlook email, she received a dialog asking her if she wanted to start the debugger. It never allows her to attach the file and if she goes through with starting the debugger, she gets a variety of errors... never a repeating error. Anyone have any experience with this error? User has folders under the Inbox folders and of those folders some are expanded and some are collapsed. When he closes Outlook it does not "remember" the folder settings. Just starting using Outlook 2003. When composing an email, when go to address the note, it appears that there are 2 Contact files - 1 is "blank" and the other has lots of my contacts. It is the latter contact file that I enabled to use as my address book. Initially address book comes up the first one and I get error message.
