Reminders only pop up when Outlook is open

Hi, I've just migrated my diary/contacts from Palm Desktop to Outlook 2003.
(You can see that I'm not the most up to date!) I'm a bit startled to find
that I seem to need to keep outlook open the whole time in order to get my
calendar reminders. Normally, I like to collect my emails twice a day, and
the rest of the time outlook stays closed.

Is there any way to avoid having outlook open the whole time, or at least to
get the program to pop down into the notification area so it's not
cluttering up my taskbar? Are there any 3rd party apps. that deal with the
alarms, perhaps?

Thanks for any help.

By the way, for backup I've been copying the outlook.pst file. Is there
anything else I should be copying?

How do you expect a program to do anything when it isn't running?

Right-click on the Outlook tray icon when Outlook is running. Select to
minimize to the system tray. That's *minimize* to the system tray. If
you exit Outlook then it exits as you requested. So remember to
minimize if you want to leave Outlook running.

Well, it's possible to close the main programme and leave a small programme
running to deal with alarms. That's what the palm desktop does. Or outlook
could close but queue up any alarms in scheduler.

Brilliant, thanks!

And that still requires a program to be running to handle the alarms.
You can Google to find LOTS of e-mail monitors. However, you'll find
most of them consume 8KB, or more, of memory and that's what Outlook
consumes when it has been minimized to a tray icon. Outlook will
release its UI resources when its window is not displayed. However,
many e-mail monitors use the same amount of memory whether their window
is displayed or not.

And that requires the Task Scheduler service is running. That's just
another program. There are a lots of functions available in Outlook's
calendaring code that are not available with the Task Scheduler.

At the moment task manager reports 27,108k in use by Outlook, even though
it's minimised. I agree though that it does seem to go down to 2,000 to
3,000k normally when minimised, which is nowhere near as bad as I expected.
So, overall, I'm pretty happy.

Thanks again for your help!

Open a Form From the Report That Accepts Dates?
I have forms that accept a starting/ending date and then previews a report filtered by those dates. However, I want to set it up so that whenever a user runs a specific report, the dialog form pops up first, the user enters both dates, and then the report is previewed, filtered by those two dates. I've used a nifty program called Alpha Five for many years and we can do the above with relatively little coding. Is there way to do that in Access 2003? Ad Context Menu in Outlook 2007
Hello All, I have a List Box in a User Form in Outlook 2007. I want to add a Context Menu that pops up when i right click on the Mouse. Can any one please tell me how to go about it? Thanks, Sanya If this is an Outlook VBA UserForm you would need to add a handler for the UserForm.MouseUp or .MouseDown events. If you want to handle a right-click on the listbox you would handle ether of those events on the ListBox object. In either case I'm not sure how you'd create a context menu if it's possible at all. Login to Exchange Server Keeps Popping Up
I have a user who logs into their laptop as a local computer user (albeit an Administrator on the PC). The user then runs a Cisco VPN application to connect to our system, starts Outlook 2003. When Outlook first opens, it tells the user she is disconnected. Then a Windows-like login box pops up to ask her to log into our Exchange 2003 mail server. She enters the domain\username and her password (as she has a Domain login) and that box goes away and it says she is connected. She then goes to open an email and it sticks in the "downloading" status forever and ever. Eventually after...
