Background (please bear with me here): I had a hard drive crash and no recent

Hi, I have two questions that should have quick answers one way or the other:
1) Is there any way to include the url to an object in the email sent from
workflow? For example, "You're the new owner of the blahblah account.
<CLICK HERE> to access the account." This isn't a post-URL action (I think,
since there's not a url to post to), so much as just a hyperlink for the user
to click in the email.
2) I'd like to use ModifiedBy as a slug in the workflow email ("This account
has been sent to you by <This Person>"), but the ModifiedBy field...Word vs. PowerPoint

Does anyone know of arguments for or against using the Notes function
