Major bug in Outlook 2003?

I recently installed Outlook 2003 and quickly my PST file was full. First I
was surprised that there is a limit in size.

Then my second surprise was that once my PST file was full a form pops-up
showing me different ways to remove emails messages. I closed that form in
order to manually delete files, but I noticed that all incoming emails I was
receiving were simply lost. Outlook did not stop to get emails from my
mailbox and since the PST file was full, the messages were just lost. I lost
more than a thousand emails.

I believe that this is a major bug. At first I was not sure why all my
emails were deleted, but a few days later it happened again.

If you use Outlook 2003 make sure you don't reach the limit, if you do
disconnect your internet access first to empty your PST file.

I had the same problem, and it took me quite a while to
figure out what was going on! Far from being a computer
expert (actually, I'm a wimp about trying to learn
anything new), I'll try to explain...

Prior to Outlook 2003 there was a size limit to the .pst
file, which is the date file, basically, for Outlook.
When you install 2003 it uses your last active 2002 .pst
file.

Click on the arrow next to "new" on the menu, and
choose "outlook data file". You'll see you have a choice,
and you do NOT want the 97-2000 choice, because that's the
limited size file (if you go in to Outlook "help" I
believe you can read about the differences). Once you
create this new data file, which is now the right kind of
file for 2003 and will not reach its maximum size, IMPORT
your 2002 .pst file into this newly created data file.

That's what finally worked for me.

Thanks Karen, it was of a great help. It seems to be the solution!

Still think it's not normal that emails would just disappear if the file is
full. My clients would get mad at me if I would sell them software with such
bug.

Thanks again,
Sandro

New Exchange 2003 server pointing to 5.5 server for OWA
I had only a single Exchange 5.5 server in my Org, and I today added an Exchange 2003 server. Everything went fine, however when I try to browse OWA on the new server, it's trying to connect to my 5.5 server. I know this because a NAV for MS Exchange prompt comes up and the titlebar says "connect to SERVERNAME". Yes there's NAV on that server (and stopping the service makes this operation fail entirely), but I don't want it to point to that server at all. Long story short, how do I tell my Exchange 2003 server to point to ITSELF for OWA? On Fri, 20 May 2005 ...

Major help needed #2
Right, so this one is a biggy for me, and I'm stumped. Basically, I have to analyse the mobile phone records for my company. The invoice comes in on a disk, and now it's my job to go through all the calls picking out certain numbers, users, etc. Anyway, after exporting the data to a .txt file, i now need to open it in excel so I can start comparing and so on. Unfortunately, this is a big company and turns out, there are a lot of calls being made. So excel is unable to open anything more than the first 65 000 odd rows of calls. I still need a lot, lot more. Is there any way tha...

Automatically send messages when offline in Outlook
I know that by default, when in Offline mode, Outlook will not send or receive messages automatically - you need to explicitly tell it to send and/or receive. Is there a way to set it up such that it sends all messages automatically, instead of leaving them in "Outbox"? I don't want it to receive automatically. The connection to the mail server is pretty bad and Outlook seems to be a lot more stable in Offline mode, so not working in Offline mode is unfortunately not a desirable option. I am using Outlook 2003. Thanks. OmarK. <omarkhawaja@yahoo.com> wrote: > I know th...
