The most likely reason is that you have an antivirus solution installed that
can scan e-mail as it is downloaded. You would need to disable the scanning
of e-mail to get what you describe to stop.

Incoming server changes to localhost
My incoming mail server address automatically changes to "localhost" every time I shut down Outlook. Although the correct domain is appended to the login name, I must replace localhost with the correct domain name to successfully receive e-mail. Thank you for any help you can give. You have a 3rd party tool (antivirus, antispam, .etc) installed that protects your POP3 account. You would need to disable that feature in order to get the settings to stick. /neo ps - localhost is another name for your pc. "No Spam" <anonymous@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote i...

localhost
I have microsoft outlook 2002 SP-2 running on Windows XP SP-1. Each time I switch off the computer or log off, outlook "looses" the information about the pop3 server value and it adds to it place "localhost". At the same time it adds the actual value of my pop2 server to the username of the account. For example assume that the pop3 server is "who.are.you" and the username is "myname". When I restart the PC it will put in the POP3 Server the value "localhost" and it will have as my username "myname/who.are.you". At first I t...

Outlook CRM uses localhost:5555 even when online??
CRM 3.0 install, with a mix of Outlook desktop and laptop installs. While investigating some reported performance issues, we've discovered that the Outlook Laptop client uses the local URL (localhost:5555) even when online. Is this working as designed? I suppose there is a data logic layer that decides whether it is online or offline, and gets the data from the appropriate location, but this means that all the ASP.Net page logic is happening locally, putting a much higher demand on the local machine than using the web client alone. It also has implications for how I deploy the CRM...

POP Incoming Server changes to "localhost"
Periodically and without apparent cause, the settings for my POP3 server get changed from "incoming.verizon.net" to "localhost", and my user name is changed from "jg70124" to "jg70124/incoming.verizon.net". Whenever this happens, I am not able to send mail - Outlook reports that the server has rejected by user ID. I then must manually change the settings back. Any ideas? (Outlook 2002, SP2, Windows XP). It's usually the e-mail scanning function of an anti-virus program that causes this (it could also be a proxy server). Try temporarily disabl...

Outlook Changes Incoming Server to "localhost"
For some reason, Outlook 2000, on three different machines here, randomly decides to automatically reconfigure account information to "Incoming Mail: localhost", and "User Name: your.name/mail.ispname.com". I had thought it was because I use a Spam front-end filter called POPFile, but now it's happened to two co-workers. Anyone know what gives? Thanks... Incoming server address changes to "localhost"
My pop server address frequently changes to local host. And, the incoming server address is then appended to the User Name - preceeded with a "/" Anyone have any idea why this happens? Unfortunately it has happened on my laptop, desktop, and my wife's computer. This even happens with a fresh image (O/S and apps re-installed, with new mail file). I've experienced it with Windows ME, 2000, XP home and XP Pro. Also with Office 2000 and now with Office XP. If I remember correctly (it's been a long time) the only constant is the fact that I have used a gateway. Used to be a...

Problem with connections to localhost
I have a strange problem with Outlook 2000. When I set the outgoing server to 127.0.0.3 Outlook does not send mail properly. It goes to some stage and the mail is not sent. I can however send mail using OE. I have tried all settings in the network tab in Outlook. None seem to work. Any solutions? Regards, Paritosh Shah Skelta Workflow .NET (www.skelta.com) Did you install the CRM Website in its own virtual directory, or did you let the installation program overwrite the default website? localhost
Sometimes I run a client and server application on the same server and I connect them using "localhost" as the IP. The server program then reports the IP address of the client as "127.0.0.1". Is that the IP it ALWAYS translates to? In one display of my server program I show the IP of the connected host. The customer is confused when it shows "127.0.0.1". In my code, can I check for that IP and then display "localhost" instead? Would that always work? On 25 jun, 14:52, TomChapman <TomChapma...@gmail.com> wrote: > Sometimes I ...

Server Address in E-Mail Account Replaced by Localhost
I have been seeing a recurring error involving my e-mail accounts in Outlook 2002. Every so often the "Incoming Mail Server" stored for each of my six accounts is replaced with the word "localhost" and the server name is tacked on in the "User Name" field as follows "{user name}/ {server name}. The "Outgoing Mail Server" information is unaffected. The first I become aware of this issue is when I see an "Enter Network Password" dialog box pop up which shows the server name after the user name on the "User Name" line an...

POP server always changes to localhost
Hello, My outlook is having a wierd issue. I have three POP3 accounts set up to check email in Outlook. After some point in time, all three will stop functioning because in the E-mail accounts settings dialog my incoming mail server will get changed to localhost, and it fails to log in to box to pull my mail. It appends the POP3 server name to my user name which seems odd. So, to summarize, my Incoming mail server (POP3) field changes from it's usual value (something like mail.server.com) to localhost, and my mail server gets appended to my user name (something like username...
