upgrade from mac office to pc?Can you upgrade from Office 2004 for Mac to Office 2007 for PC for the
lower upgrade price? Or do I have to basically start over and buy
Office again for $250 - $300 or whatever it is, if I switch from Mac
and buy a new PC?
(I have Office '04 on my iMac. I'm weighing buying either a new iMac
or a new Dell. The cost of buying Office again makes the inferior-but-
cheaper Dell almost as expensive as a new Mac, alas.)

Outlook 2003 and "Check Names"Hi,
We are testing Outlook 2003 at our office now and there is
one very frustrating "feature" that is bugging all of us.
When we create a new e-mail message and type in the first
name of a person from the global address book and hit ctrl-
k to check the name...we get a response that Outlook
doesn't recognize the name and there are "no suggestions".
The only way Check Name will successfully resolve the name
is if we type it last name first (ie, Gates, Bill). This
was not the case in Office XP or Outlook 2000. You could
search by first name (or partial first name)...
Standalone install of Office 98 Upgrade?I'm in the process of getting an old Mac up and running on OS 9 for my
teenager. I want to install Office 98, but my version, in the box, is
Upgrade. I can't find any earlier Office software around here. Does
anybody know if I can install the Upgrade version as a standalone, or
must I find an earlier version somewhere? Thanks.

Crash on 'Send"My wife's Intel Celeron running ME started having this problem
sporadically - now constantly.
Outlook 2000 receives OK - everything seems fine until you hit the 'Send'
button then Outlook crashes giving an error message that says 'Outlook has
caused an error in <unknown> and has to shut down. If the problem persists
you may have to restart your computer.'
Re-starting however has no effect.
I have re-installed Office. Used 'Detect & Repair' under the 'Help' tab, and
installed all patches/updates from the Office site. But this error
continues, now...

No, don't import it. Simply use "File">"Open"

Lookup based on criteria in 2 columnsHi,
I am trying to use a vlookup or other function to return the value in the
amount column based on the location and date. Here is a sample of my data:
Location Date Amount
101 9/15/8 10
101 9/16/8 20
101 9/17/8 15
102 9/15/8 50
102 9/16/8 75
102 9/17/8 67
For example if I wanted to return the amount for location 102 on 9/15/8,
what formula would I use? I tried using variations of vlookups but had no
luck.
Thanks,

Auto-format in Microsoft Excel. Each time i try to enter a number range, for example, 8-
10, in Excel, it constantly re-formats it to a date. If I
change the formatting to "General" it turns it into a
random number, usually 38209. I would like to turn off
ALL auto-formatting, but that's probably asking too
much. How do I disable this frustrating feature?
thanks.
Hi Paul
When you enter "8-10" in a cell, that's not strictly a number but Excel
thinks you mean a date so converts it as such.
A date is a number and in your example the number 38209 represents August 10
2004 which is not a ra...
Outlook needs Outlook Express to workI've installed my Outlook 2002 on my new Vista PC (I had Xp before). Now when
I start Outlook it says "requires Outlook Express 4.01 or greater". I've been
looking for Outlook Express to download and install but no joy. No CD came
with my new Vista PC. Any ideas, short of buying a more modern Outlook?
Vista doesn't actually support Outlook 2002 or older. Outlook Express is
part of Internet Explorer but with the advent of Vista, it was switched to
Windows Mail. There is no more Outlook Express.
You could attempt however to create a profile using workgroup or c...

I have looked at RMS and Microsoft POS. The customer's are small bulk food

I have setup the Microsoft POS version 2.0 and found it will work perfect

Outlook 2003Hello,
we have one client pc with Outlook 2003 where the following problem
occurs:
if a mail is replied from a user created sub folder of the inbox, the
reply will not appear in sent mails, but will end up in the same sub
folder, sender and recipient appear as identical. The mail goes out
properly though, it's just that Outlook sets internally sender =
recipient and bounces the reply back to the subfolder in which the
original mail is stored.
This happens on a Win 2000 machine with SP4 and all updates, the other
clients use Outlook 2000 or XP and there is no such problem.

How do I create several NEW templates from start to finish please?Hi knowledgeable people.
I am looking for instructions on how to create a range of basic templates
that I can use, perhaps even by selecting them as 'stationery', for example;
if I go to >New >Format >Apply stationery, or any other similar method.
I can create new html stationery backgrounds, but this is NOT what I am

this make sense?
Plain text templates would be fine.

matching contents #2E1 thru E10 contains sequentially-sorted data. B1 thru B6 contains
sequentially-sorted data which matches SOME (but not ALL) of the data
in Col A. For example.

3 4 3
4 5 4

6 10 6

Office 2003, Outlook (Outlook Today)...OK, this is driving me nuts.
