how to get file id in C#how to get file id in C#
is there any kind of unique id that can be obtained for any file in a file
system?
Hi,
You can you use hash algorithm, it creates representation of file's content.
It would be unique to all the files. But yuo'll get the same result for the
same file with different name.
HashAlgorithm hashAlgorithm = HashAlgorithm.Create( "SHA1" );
FileStream fileStream = new FileStream( fullFileName, FileMode.Open,
FileAccess.Read );
byte[] hashCode = hashAlgorithm.ComputeHash( fileStream );

Crashed DriveHi, I had the dreaded blue screen at one of my stores yesterday. I am
bringing the store up on another computer. I have a backup dbase, but it is
not as current as I would like (I know - stupid). I was able to access the

attach them. I have tried several methods from online sources and have come
up with numerous syntax errors. Any help would be appreciated. I hate to
lose the data when it is there.

Problems creating a PDF file from a report using autoexec macroHi,
I am using the autoexec macro to run a report and print it out as a pdf
file. My steps in the autoexec macro are 1. OpenReport 2. Print Out 3.
RunCode 4. Quit. The RunCode is designed to delay the closing of the
application by two minutes so that the pdf file can be created. Whenever I
run this, I get a box that comes up and says "Print Macro Definitions"
Include for Macro _Properties _Actions and Arguments _Permissions by User and
Group. The application hangs on this without closing. Can someone tell me
what I am doing wrong? Is Print Out the right command?

Pocket PC - Money 2004Hello,
My hard-drive crashed on my computer and I had to install a new one. The
only workable backup file I have for my Microsoft Money is on my Pocket PC.
Is there a way for me to use the file on my Pocket PC on my new computer?
I tried http://money.mvps.org/faq/article/276.aspx and it's not working.
Maybe that tutorial was designed for a newer version of Microsoft Money?

The readme, which the article is based on, has been around for a while. In

multiple generation Excel workbook file size reductionI have a workbook that has been updated each month for several years
and re-saved as the current month. For example in Feb-2007 the
Jan-2007 file was used, modified for Feb-2007 and then saved as
Feb-2007. In Mar-2007, the Feb-2007 file was used, modified for
Mar-2007 and then saved as Mar-2007. This was done for several years
and now the file which probably started out as 1MB is now 25+MB.
Is there anyway to clean this up to reduce the file size?
How about separating out all the 2007 data and save that as
Archive_2007.xls, and similar for 2008 (in Jan 2009), so that each
year you start w...
Find byte pattern in file (still desperate for solution)I'm still desperately looking for a solution to this question. I need a
very intelligent way to find an array of bytes within a file, but not only
that preferably a regex expression of sorts.
For example my database has around 50,000 regex entries such as
"FFFF.*BB0403.*FF" that I want to turn into a byte array then search for. I
understand how to go about writing my own code for this, however it is a
little over my head when we're dealing with searching so many patterns
against many files while trying to be speedy about the operation. Does

How can this be overcome?
Look in the Security Options (Menu: Tools/Options) for how our OE is

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.

troubles with delimited filesI receive orders via CSV files. Below is one of the troublemakers. If you
notice, the sku# is 9185 and the 16 digit following ends in 9185. Great! No
matter if I open as CSV, TXT, or cut-n-paste, then opt to delimit into
columns, the 16 digit number will always resolve to 9990000000009180 which
is a mismatch. Also, with the cell not wide enough, it displays as 9.99E+15.
All other similar 16 digit numbers would display as 999E+15 and delimit
without issue.

It is converting to *.gif because you have text boxes or object that are
too close or overlapping.
