Advanced views.."By Conversation". Is it possible to have a view where I see only the first Item of a conversation?

Hi,
I receive emails from a distribution list.

I have set a "Search Folder"(outlook 2003) for these emails that allow
me to view items arranged by Conversation.

I need to create a view that will allow me to see Only the first items
in a conversation.By viewing that conversation I should be able to
decide whether or not I need to expand that group and read later emails
in that thread. If I decide not to follow up on that conversation, I
should be able to delete it and not have items from that conversation
visible.

This sounds challenging but I'm sure that the Outlook experts know a
work around. I believe this is a useful feature and some people are
already have created a way to achieve this.

Thanks in advance

maybe if you make custom view and don't include messages with re: in them?
If this works, you'll need to delete the conversation, not just the first
message, or you'll be left with all the replies.

Group by Conversation
Hello, I normally use View/Group Messages by Conversation for my emails. I have had no problems before. A friend sent me an email. I used the Reply button to reply. Then I moved both the message and my reply to a folder. Their Subjects are 'Hello' and 'Re: Hello'. I expected them to appear together as a thread with a + before the original message. But my reply was missing. If I turn off the 'View/Group Messages by Conversation ' my reply appears. What have I done wrong ?. All my other messages & threads are there OK. Thanks KK Windows...

Arranging by conversation arranges by subject
Hi, I'm trying to arrange by conversation in Outlook 2003 but it seems to be arranging by subject instead. If two different people send me an e-mail with the same title they get grouped in the same thread. Is this meant to happen? Thanks, Neil Yes, it groups by subject unless the senders also use ol2003. -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Author, Teach Yourself Outlook 2003 in 24 Hours Coauthor, OneNote 2003 for Windows (Visual QuickStart Guide) Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ http://www.poremsky.com - http://www.cdolive.com Expert Zone http://www.microsoft.com/windowsx...

View all messages by conversation
I'd like to view all messages by conversation not just the inbox. Viewing by conversation is not very useful if you can't see the whole conversation. Flag fields in View by Conversation Topic (Outlook 2000)
Hi, Is it possible to get any of the message level attributes displayed at the conversation level (using the view by conversation topic)? e.g. - in a conversation topic, one of the messages may have a follow up flag set (or category), but this is not displayed / replicated at conversation level. Basically, I need someway in which to highlight given conversation topics that need my attention (apart from read / unread). I tried a format filter, but it does not propagate up to the conversation topic line. Any ideas? Cheers, JB ...

Outlook 2003
I'm using Newsgator to bring news and blogs into Outlook 2003. Newsgator inserts new items as "Note" types. I have contacted Newsgator who think the issue is with Outlook 2003 - Can anyone confirm: When I change my View -> Arrange By to Conversation on a news or blog folder created by newsgator (assuming that View -> Expand / Collapse Groups -> Always Show Unread and Flagged Messages is checked), groups containing read messages are not collapsed. All messages in the group are "read" and non are "flagged"... the group should collapse, but it ...

Problems with "Group by Conversation"
Hi, i'm currently using Windows Live Mail Version 2009 Build 14.0.8089.0726 and i have the following Problem with the Newsgroups: For example, if i start a Conversation with a generic subject "Help !" and i get replies, it gets sorted (with a +) under the first post. If i use that Subject EVER again, even if i didn't reply to the first post but creating a complete new post (just with the same subject) it gets sorted beneath my very first post, even if its eons away. My question is, how can i get the posts sorted so it just puts the messages which are actual ...

Group By Conversation
Hi All, Client: Outlook 2000 I am following several mailing lists for various open-source projects, but = seem to be having trouble with viewing the message, and following the conversation. I read somewhere about the "Conversation" field, = but it doesn't appear to work for all messages. Most messages have the "Conversation" = field equal to the "Subject" field, which means it includes the "Re:"/"Fw:"...

Sort first by Conversation topic, then by thread

Group messages by conversation, missing in Outlook?
One of the main reasons I've not converted to Outlook 2003, is that OE6 has a very nifty function called 'Group messages by conversation'. This gives you a '+' sign in front of any conversation spanning several messages. Is this function left out from Outlook 2003, or have I just not looked hard enough for it?
