Advanced views.."By Conversation". Is it possible to have a view where I see only the first Item of a conversation?
I receive emails from a distribution list.
I have set a "Search Folder"(outlook 2003) for these emails that allow
me to view items arranged by Conversation.
I need to create a view that will allow me to see Only the first items
in a conversation.By viewing that conversation I should be able to
decide whether or not I need to expand that group and read later emails
in that thread. If I decide not to follow up on that conversation, I
should be able to delete it and not have items from that conversation
This sounds challenging but I'm sure that the Outlook experts ...Group by Conversation
I normally use View/Group Messages by Conversation for my emails. I have had
no problems before.
A friend sent me an email. I used the Reply button to reply. Then I moved
both the message and my reply to a folder. Their Subjects are 'Hello' and
'Re: Hello'. I expected them to appear together as a thread with a + before
the original message. But my reply was missing.
If I turn off the 'View/Group Messages by Conversation ' my reply appears.
What have I done wrong ?. All my other messages & threads are there OK.
Windows...Arranging by conversation arranges by subject
I'm trying to arrange by conversation in Outlook 2003 but it seems to be
arranging by subject instead. If two different people send me an e-mail with
the same title they get grouped in the same thread. Is this meant to happen?
Yes, it groups by subject unless the senders also use ol2003.

I'd like to view all messages by conversation not just the inbox. Viewing
by conversation is not
very useful if you can't see the whole conversation.
Is there any way to display all messages in a single folder without having
to copy the original?

Is it possible to get any of the message level attributes displayed at
the conversation level (using the view by conversation topic)?
e.g. - in a conversation topic, one of the messages may have a follow
up flag set (or category), but this is not displayed / replicated at
Basically, I need someway in which to highlight given conversation
topics that need my attention (apart from read / unread).
I tried a format filter, but it does not propagate up to the
conversation topic line.

...Problems with "Group by Conversation"
i'm currently using Windows Live Mail Version 2009 Build 14.0.8089.0726 and
i have the following Problem with the Newsgroups:
For example, if i start a Conversation with a generic subject "Help !" and i
get replies, it gets sorted (with a +) under the first post.
If i use that Subject EVER again, even if i didn't reply to the first post
but creating a complete new post (just with the same subject) it gets sorted
beneath my very first post, even if its eons away.
My question is, how can i get the posts sorted so it just puts the messages

Sometimes, in long e-mail discussions, people do not always reply to the

For these e-mails, I would like to sort them first by conversation topic,

...Group messages by conversation, missing in Outlook?
One of the main reasons I've not converted to Outlook 2003, is that OE6 has
a very nifty function called 'Group messages by conversation'. This gives
you a '+' sign in front of any conversation spanning several messages.
Is this function left out from Outlook 2003, or have I just not looked hard
enough for it?
Black Box Network Services
You can arrange by Conversation in OL2003.
