Why do I have 2 "Sent Items" files in Outlook 2003?

This header is as close as I can come to my problem. I have 2 "sent Items"
files in Outlook 2003. One contains material from 5-May-09 to 22-Dec-09. It
is stored under the Inbox. The second has material from 5-May-09 to
13-Nov-09 and is in a folder of its own at the bottom of the list.

Issues:
Why does this occur? Does it have something to do with backup?
How do I recombine them without creating duplicates (I don't have Access)?
How do I prevent it from happening again?

Thank you for your help and Seasons Greetings

Outlook 2010 Sent Items PST File
We use Exchange 2003 and I've just installed Outlook 2010. I've always had my computer set up to download all items from the server and save in a local PST file, all incoming mail is saved to the local Inbox and all Sent Items are stored in the local Sent Items box. Since installing 2010 incoming mail is working as above, getting moved from the server to the local PST file. Sent Items however are not. They are been stored in the server's Sent Items and if I want to move then from the server to the local PST file I have to do this manually. Any ideas on how to...

OWA not showing anything in "Sent items"
Hi, Running a SBS2003,exchange 2003 with OWA enabled. All users but one can see their sent items in both outlook and OWA, but starting last friday one user can only see them in outlook, not in OWA, any ideas of a solution? Cant see any option in OWA to enable/disable this option, and it is enabled in outlook. thanks / Tony Maybe the user has accidentally configured their profile for a PST file and the Sent Items are going to PST? What happens if a brand new Outlook profile is created and mail is Sent? What happens if we send from OWA? Do the items show up in Sent Items viewable from...

Sent Items Folder crashing Outlook 2002
Cannot open Sent Items Folder; it immediately closes Outlook and sends folder to taskbar on desktop. Folder then cannot be minimized, moved, closed or changed in any way by right-clicking on it, will not open when selected. When the agent tried again the folder duplicated and now there are two on the desktop taskbar. They will disappear when CPU is booted, but as soon as Outlook is opened, and Sent Items Folder selected, the program again closes and puts both folders on the taskbar again. We've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Office XP and all upgrades and patches--the pr...

Sent mail not appearing in imap sent items folder ?
I am using windows live mail to handle my email for a number of accounts. In one account I'm connecting to an imap server. I can read the email for that account, and send emails from that account, but I do not see the sent mail items in the Sent Items Folder. If I reset the folder list I get an Inbox folder, with Draft, Sent items and Trash sub folders. Other imap accounts work fine, and the sent mails appear in the Sent Items folder for that account. This shows that the option to save sent mail in the Sent Items folders is working ok ? Any ideas ? Thanks Tony Which IMAP...

Outlook 2003 Storing Sent Items with IMAP
Hi, I've recently started using Outlook 2003, (upgrading from Outllook Express). I have several IMAP accounts and with Outllook Express whenever I sent an email from one account, it automatically stored it in the IMAP folder Sent Items of the account I sent it from. How can you do this in Outllook 2003?? It seems to store everything in Sent Items which means I can't read the mail I've sent from other locations. Regards. outlook sent items, draft, and contacts, etc
When I go to check my Sent Items, the mail file flashes and then a website pops up, if I delete the web site, it pops up again, and again. No matter what I do it comes back, it comes back, I even tried to delete the cookie if that would do any good? This happens with the Draft file or Contacts, and even if I go back to Inbox at this point I can't see my mail becuase this stupid web page pops up, and I have to close outlook altogether and start over. It's like my computer or program has been invaded by a pop up virus. The web site is: http://www.jraun.com/search.php?search...

Hello I have this strange problem in my Microsoft outlook - I have two inbox, 2 sent items, actually everything is twice. Hence to know if an email has arrived I have to everytime click on the Inbox which then shows that email had arrived some few hours early. Does any one have any solution for this please. My PC is connected to server and Exchange server is used for mail. The systems support fellow does not have a clue even though he created my account. Thank you Gina GINA wrote: > ...

Outlook 2003 Exchange 2003 Sent Items Retention
Hello, I have an issue that has just surfaced. When setting up my mailbox account on new clients, Outlook only shows that past few months of Sent Items. Until recently, it would show items back to 2002 (when the server was first set up) I have no Archiving enabled, and my mailbox size is well below the limits I have set on the Exchange Server. And, the Sent Items Properties shows that no retention polocies have ever been set. What is causing this? Did an update to Exchange trigger some new default setting? In any case, there are older Sent Items that I need to have! Running Excha...

Saving or Exporting Outlook Express Sent Items
How can Sent Items in Outlook Express be saved to a location or file that they could be retrieved when virus or hard disk problems make access impossible? Are they stored somewhere in Windows Explorer that is accessible? If so, where? Can they be copied to a word document other than by highlighting text in each message? Any explanation would be appreciated since Help or menus don't help with this problem. Sharing Sent Items folder
Hi, I use Outlook 2003 in an Exchange 2003 environment. The Sent Items folder of an account can be shared by right- clicking, select Sharing, and setting the permissions. But how can another user now access this shared folder? If they click File | Open | Another User's Folder, the Sent Items folder is not listed. Presumably it must be possible for User B to do this, otherwise it wouldn't make sense for User A to be able to share the Sent Items folder in the first place. Thanks for any help you can give! There are only a few folders that you can access using the File > Open...

Cannot View Attachment Information in Sent Items Folder
In Outlook 2003 After an email has been sent with an attachment and you go to your Sent Items folder to open it...the Header lists, From: Sent: To: Subject: and Attachment. However, when you print the email, the Attachment does not print. Why? Is the format of email HTML because if it is then it wont list the attachment when printing, from the open message go to Edit and Edit Message and then change the Format from the Format menu and see if the attachment is listed when you now print "Sharon" <anonymous@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:0ffb01c436b1$95863b...

Why doesn't my jpegs show in the mail I sent out in my sent items.
I would like to see the jpegs I sent out with my sent items but all I have are attachments. How could I change this? Even the photos that come into my mail are all attachments not part of my email as it was in outlook express. Hi Connie, Sounds like you are describing a difference of features between Outlook Express and Microsoft Outlook. When you received messages in Outlook Express that contains picture (jpg, gif, etc) has the ability to do what is called in-line previewing of attachments. Microsoft Outlook doesn't have this feature. In order to get the recipient to see the ...

Problem finding text in 'Sent Items' in 'Search Folders'...
Hi, I'm using Outlook 2003 (11.6359.6360) SP1. When I define a 'Search Folder' to find all messages containing a specific word, it does not find messages with that word in the 'Sent Items'. I have defined the 'Search Folder' on 'Personal Folders', so it should find them. I experimented a bit with different words, but it looks like this type of 'Search Folder' never displays anything from 'Sent Items'. When I move such a message to another folder, it does suddenly show up in the 'Search Folder'. This problem does not occur when defin...

Sent Items Folder #4
Just recently I have noticed that a couple of users are not getting their sent email to default to their 'Sent Items' folder. We have an Exchange 2000 Server running with a mixture of Outlook 2000 and 2003 clients. One of the problems is from a 2K client and then another one with 2003??? It is hit and miss....one time it saves to their folder, the next it will not. I am aware, and have checked, the 'Save Forwarded Messages' checkbox and it is checked (as I am not sure if they were forwarding messages that did not appear in their Sent Items folder). Has anyone heard of this...

To field is blank when a message is sent and saved to sent items
I have a user who recently was upgraded to Outlook 2003 for Outlook 2002. He has a third party app that sends out legal documents. What it does is compose the email and put the attachments in it and puts the messages in his draft folder. He reviews them and sends them out. Since going to Outlook 2003 the emails are in his Sent Items but the TO field is blank. When they were in his draft folder the TO field had the email address in it. if you bring up the email and click on resend it shows the email address in the TO field. My question is what would cause the email address to be hidden or disa...

why 2 'sent items' folders when 1 isn't used?
Whenever I send an email a copy is stored in the sent items folders of my default account. I would prefer to have it saved in the sent items folder of my storage folders, but can't find any way to make that happen. Why have that second folder if it is not used?
