Money doesn't allow you to specify state tax year?
I'm having a bit of a problem reconciling my estimated payments in a report in MS Money 2004.. There seems to be a bit of inconsistency in the way it handles tax payments.. On any payment that I enter under the category "Federal Income Taxes", it asks me to which year the payment should apply.. This is correct behavior, I imagine, as I can pick "2003" or "2004"; likely when I enter my 1/15/04 estimated payment, I will be prompted as to whether the payment applies to "2004" or "2005". However, when I enter a STATE payment, it never asks me for the year. Is there a way to specify to which year a state tax payment should apply? I have seen the "solution" of making a category named "State Taxes - Previous Year" - however this still shows up in current-year reports. Why in the world does Money ask for a year for federal payments, not state? Is there any way to allow this to happen? ...On another note.. I'm hoping for a big update in Money 2005. I really haven't seen that much updated in Money since I started using it in 1999; and man is it getting slow..! Any rumors of what may be coming? If it's just another polishing up of the same thing, it may be time to go..

If you make a 2005 tax payment in 2004, just make it a transfer to that account. This will stop it from showing up in this year's taxes. When 2005 gets here, enter the actual tax payment in that account, or enter the tax payment now with a future date. Using a transfer to a separate account allows you to break the link between when the payment is made, and the year it counts towards. In my case, I use it the other way: If I have a refund or payment due after the 2004 tax year ends, I'll enter it in the "Tax payments and refunds" account with a date of 12-31-2004, then when my tax return is processed in the January-March 2005 timeframe, I'll enter the refund or payment as a transfer to/from my checking account. This makes the apparent transaction in my checking account happen in 2005, but keeps all the tax-categorized transactions together in 2004. formula for money additions & subtractions
I am trying to get a formula to calculate payroll deduction for cas register +/-. When an employee is over by $10 or under by $24, th difference comes out of thier check. Example: if somone is -25.00 for the month $1.00 would come out of th check. Recently had problems with the IE8 upgrade. It screwed up everything so much that I'm back with IE6, which seems to be working OK. But now MS-Money won't open. The msmoney.exe file is running because I can see it in Task Manager. Even when I end the process in Task Manager, the program still won't open on the desktop. Rebooting doesn't solve anything. Money 2006 Investment Account balance display
I have two Investment Accounts (401k) in Money 2006 Deluxe. For some reason, Money stopped displaying the account totals on the Account List page. It used to show the account balances and the subtotal for all of my investment accounts. Additionally, I now notice that each account now has a second account with the same name, but has the word "Contributions" added in parenthesis. This seems to be new as well. I've just started to use the Money 2006 and I'm trying to move from the Essential Budget to the Advanced Budget, but the software does not move to the selected option. Is there any action to correct this problem? I was using a very old Money version (97) and the file was converted without any problem with budget data in the Advanced format, but as I can't select the Advanced Budget I'm not able to change anything in it. Suggestion for enhancement to Money
Money 2003 contained a feature to track frequent flier miles and points, however you have to do it manually. It would be nice to have an update feature like with bank accounts and investments so a person doesn't have to type all that in. Well, it takes two to tango. Given that all of the airlines are in bankruptcy or are desperately trying to stay out of it and given how very few Money users care about this feature, I'd be really surprised to see Microsoft worry much about convincing the airlines to support such an interface. Since TAXCUT is out and Money is free with it (Staples), I purchased and upgraded from 06 to 07. My first download resulted in a transaction on my Fidelity account that listed the sale of one mutual fund and the purchase of another. I currently have a whole table of data imported into Excel from Access. The only problem is, i cannot seem to import the data for the previous year using a query. Our FRX financials show at least the last 6 periods of data. On some of the financials we include unit accounts. Now that we rolled into the new year we noticed that units were in the BBF entry. Money/MSN Money Locking up
I have a friend who is running Money 2005 Standard. He lost his hard file, but still had all his info in his Windows Live online account. After uninstalling and reinstalling Money (part of trying to get the backup files he had working) We had to login to his online account to pull the info down and save it into a hard file. As soon as we logoff from this first login and go back in Money locks up after successfully connecting (Doesn't matter if we log back in to the internet or run it offline). I am getting nailed my Wells Fargo for using Money's BillPay feature. Is there a national bank out there that you can get this feature for free? And it works well with Money? According to every KB article i read you can't specify a DC when creating a RUS, but i'm trying to create a RUS for a child domain and exchange is picking up a 'former' domain controller...i thought i'd re-domainprep the child domain to fix, but no luck..this is the scenario: Our child domain was blown away and restored by some lovely remote staff, and it didn't go so well. Year End Close on Unit Accounts
Our FRX financials show at least the last 6 periods of data. On some of the financials we include unit accounts. Now that we rolled into the new year we noticed that units were in the BBF entry. Why would I want those brought forward? I suppose there a situations where this information is necessary but not in every instance. In our situation it totally distorts the YTD information. We show the number of hours that an aircraft flies month by month and would expect the YTD show total hours flown by year. Reading the posts it seems that this has not been fixed in version 8. HELP! Money 2004 Upgrade Problem!
I have all my files in Money 2003 Small Business. I got Money 2004 and found out that it was Standard, not Small Business - it wouldn't let me open my Accounts Receivable files, etc. Now I just want to get my files back for Money 2003 but it won't load the backups since they were converted to 2004!
