Money 2006 Crash on download

You are my last hope! I am using Money 2006 Deluxe (Version 15.0.120.513 S/N
76929-xxx) with XP Pro. All seems fine until
I download files from my broker. I have 4 accounts. Two are regular accounts
and 2
are IRA accounts. All, except 1 IRA, were downloading just fine. The one IRA
would
crash Money 2006. The broker says all is fine with their files, so it must be a
MS
problem. I have done everything the MSKB says to do-- reregistered files,
uninstalled/reinstalled Money, run Ofxanlyz.exe and started a new file. Now
after all
of this both IRA files crash Money, but the regular files still work OK. Got any
ideas?

That implies that you successfully downloaded an ofx file that
passes Ofxanlyz.exe, but that Money crashed when you File->Import
that file. Is that what you are saying?

Did you download the OFX file from your broker's website, or did you
get it by running a *.reg file to set FLogProviderData?

Yes. I did it by first opening the file without saving it and Money 06 crashed.
I
then downloaded it, saved it and tried to import it and it crashed. I then ran
OFxanlyz on the saved file. And it said :
WARNING: Transaction skipped <INCOME>:
No matching INFO security
<FITID>605149600000041060721004484008

I downloaded it from the broker's website. Is not a *.reg a registry file to
change
the registry? I merged the Prolog, reg to get a log of what is happening and
could
not find any log files from the download. Obviously doing something wrong. Is
FLogProviderData and Prolog.reg the same?

OK.

Let's check something simple first. See if the problem goes away if
you set
Tools->Settings->OnlineServiceSettings->ShowStandardizedPayeeNames

If that does not fix it, try removing the transaction that had the
<FITID>605149600000041060721004484008

That might be <INCOME> thru </INCOME> or <BUYMF> thru </BUYMF> or
whatever. If your OFX file shows proper lines in Notepad, you could
use Notepad to do the editing. The point would be to troubleshoot
and to work around the problem.

Provlogs.reg is a file to set the FLogProviderData key at the right
spot in the register. Thus they are related. Since you are doing web
download, that does not apply.

That was already selected.

I tried that and OFxanlyz says all is fine, but Money 2006 still crashes. Looks
like it is manual entry for those 2 files.

The broker "experts" say the it is not their problem and it is a MS problem. If
that is the case, why do 2 other files, from the same web site download and
import without a problem? It just the IRA files that crash!

If you cared to, you could copy the contents of the problem OFX file
into a reply post after modifying the personal information. Personal
information would include things like the info immediately following
a <ACCTID> I suggest replacing any potentially sensitive numbers
with # and letters with Z.

In fact you might remove the whole section starting with
<INVPOSLIST> and ending with </INVPOSLIST>. You could #-out the
numbers between <INVBAL> and </INVBAL>. You could Z-out the broker
after <BROKERID> if you liked. Look for the string "BALANCE" to see
if there are any remaining numbers you would like to #-out.

One last thing: I think we have already established that this is not
the problem, but check to see if you have any "&" characters that
are not part of these five characters: "&".

OK here is an even easier thing to try first. Copy the first part of
the file, down thru where it says <OFX>, into a reply. That section
will not have any personal info.

Dang. No problem there.

Try removing the lines that correspond with the above lines in a
copy of the OFX. That makes the difference for me.

I have no OFX files that use a POSOTHER for comparison, so I don't
know why it would be a problem. Dropping the CUSIP to 9 characters
or adding a <UNITPRICE> were things that I tried in the POSOTHER
that did not help.

It took 2 tries on each file, but it finally worked on both files. Now, is this
a broker file problem or a Money 06 problem? I guess I will have to save every
download and check for the <POSOTHER> tag. Is this tag unique to IRA files or is
it just happenstance that it occurred in the IRA files?

You certainly went above and beyond on this one. Thanks Cal, put yourself in
for a raise! I hope all this work on your part helps others that may have this
problem. How did you happen on this solution? Just smart, right?

Thanks again!!

Money2004 Duplicate Check Numbers download
This is Money 2004. When I download my transactions from the bank all of my transactions come down with check numbers even if they are not checks. For example, if I bring down check number 345 then the next few transactions which are debits will also come down as 345. They should come down with no check number. I checked on the bank website and they don't have numbers there but when they hit msmoney, the number appears. Random emails crash Outlook
Random emails crash Outlook. I have checked if they have had any virus or worm content stripped in Exchange but they do not appear in the TrendMicro log. Right-clicking the email allows for it to be sent to deleted items. If I connect remotely to the user's mailbox I can open the message without problem. I then forward it to the user and they can open the forwarded message. 1 user recently reported that a previously problem email was suddenly viewable so I thought this might suggest that the problem is on the Exchange server but cannot find any errors in the logs. Duplicate Funds in Money
I have a 401k account where I have always downloaded the information myself. I then found out that I could have money keep the information up to date, so I tried to create a new 401k account within on-line setup. Originally, I had a duplicate account, but I worked through that issue. Now I'm having a problem with duplicate funds. In my original 401k I had a fund like the following. "Merck Common Stock" with the online one, they call it "MRK CMMN STCK" I Just want to treat them as the same, but each time money downloads the information, it uses the "MRK ...

Adress list drop down button crashes Outlook 2003
Hello! I got a probem with my Outlook 2003: When I press the button "New Mail" then push "To:" the address book with my contacts open. There is a drop down button on the upper right which should show the list of address books and contact folders. As soon I push this button, the drop down list doesn't open, Outlook reports a "serious error" and crashes - it can only be terminated by the task manager. First I tried to delete to Outlook Address Book in "Control Panel - Mail" because I thought this was corrupt. Deleted it and created a new one. T...

Microsoft Money in Australia
Hi all, Currently using the last version of Microsoft Money that was released in Australia - v14 (2004?). Noticed that future versions are not available in Australia. The seem to be some funny compatiblity issues since I have put it on my Vista machine... it doesn't like it when other apps are open - doesn't let me easily switch between apps. Anyway, not important. I like to keep current with my software so would like to upgrade to a newer version, happy to pay full price, but I REALLY need to retain access to my historical data. Will I be able to purchase the US version and upda...

MONEY MONEY MONEY!!!
Hello, A while back, I was browsing these newsgroups, just like you are now, and came across an article similar to this that said you could make thousands of CASH within weeks with only an initial investment of $6.00 (American) plus International stamps due to users that may be outside the United States! So I thought, "Yeah, right, this must be a scam!" But like most of us I was curious and kept reading. It said that if you send $1.00 to each of the 6 names and addresses listed in the article, you could make thousands in a very short period of time. You then place your own na...

Problems with Money 2005
I've used Money for several years. Started using '05 about two months ago. Two days ago I got a downloaded statement from my broker (an everyday occurence). Money crashed. It just froze up. I had to use control alt delete to get out. Now I have tried repairing files, restoring backups, you name it. I finally did get a backup file that was about a month old to open and run. I made a copy for safety. As soon as the statement was downloaded, this file froze up. I just want to get my data back for the last month, I don't care if I have to delete the statement. I'm afraid all...

Return Receipt causes Outlook 2000 crash/exception
One of our users on Outlook 2000 has received a message from a user that requested a return receipt. He moved the message to his "Deleted Items" folder, and now cannot delete it or empty the deleted items. If he clicks on it, Outlook crashes with an exception code of 0xC0000005. Attempting to change the message status to "read" results in the same crash. Other info: - The message was sent by a Mozilla/Gecko client - In the Deleted Items folder, the message claims to have no "From:" info, but in the headers, it clearly does. - The message has no X-Se...

Money 2004 Error 1335 #2
Sorry about the vague description. Problem. Upon installation I constantly run into an error. about 45 seconds into the download from the CD. The error message says that Error 1335 because "Money.cab" file is corrupted, network errors, or bad CD. Upon researching the error on microsoft.com I did followed their techniques to correct the problem. They were: Copy the entire disk on your local desktop, perform a clean boot and run the setup from the local computer and not the cd. This would rule out the bad CD. I then continue to receive the problem. Now this disk a...

Repair a Money data file? MS Money or MSN Money?
I've posted here before about trouble accessing one bank in my MS Money setup. I'm using MS Money 07 Deluxe on a WinXP Pro SP2 computer. It's now been well over a month since I've been able to download transactions from this bank. Last week, I had an online chat with a MS support rep. Unfortunately, I had to cut the session short, after over an hour, because I had a meeting I had to attend. And with one thing and another, I'd rather not go through the chat again and paying for phone support is a very last option. Anyway, to sum up: I tried accessing the data via the ...
