Reading XML from a Windows service
Using the function below, I'm importing configuration parameters, from
an xml file, into a Windows service. This code works as expected in a
regular Windows application, but when used in a Windows service
(written in vb.net), it produces unintended side effects. The most
notable being multiple (and simultaneous) firings of timer events. Is
there a better way? Thank you.

...XML Performance Issues post patch
We have a web application making use of the SignedXML and X509Certificate2
classes. The server is running Windows Server 2008 Standard.
Since the December patches were installed - my guess is either KB973688
(Update for MSXML Core Services 4.0 SP2) or KB948465 (Windows Server 2008
SP2) - performance has plumeted. Digging into the cause, the
SignedXML.ComputeSignature() method and assigning a private key to the
SigningKey each take 10-15 seconds to execute, all other operations execute
in fractions of a second.

I have never used XML but I use VC6 all the time.
For the first time I need to read and write a few values in a XML file.
What is the preferred easy way/library to do this?
(I use VC6/MFC but can upgrade to 2005 if that helps)
Best regards from Petter
I have used VC6 to code a MFC application that reads and writes to XML
files. The free C++ XML library that I used was TinyXML. I prefer it
over other heavy weight C and C++ XML parsers. :)

can you please confirm this behavior?
[xml]$X = "<sms_package><tag/></sms_package>"
Having a look at Get-Member, XmlElement DOESN'T contain property called

Having a look at XmlElement.psbase, it contains property Name, I am however
curious why it returns it even when psbase is not used :(
This just broke my code suddenly, any help is highly appreciated.
Did this not behave the same way in v1?

=Sum(E3:E11)/Sum(B3:B11) would work if you are looking for a single output

OTOH if you want to divide each row and then sum the results, you could put

If you are doing the latter, you can do it in one formula that looks like

Let me ask one more time!
If you have an application that uses a DataSet (System.Data) but the dataset
is only loaded with XML data.
Do you need to deploy MDAC with your application?
No - DataSet is totally disconnected and can work without any back-end
server connection. You can persist DataSet in XML files (and load it
afterwards in) without even touching the database.
