Any news when new version of MS Money comes? (e.g. 2009)

I'm about to purchase MS Money Deluxe. But I think it's not the best time as
MS always releases new version at the end of the year.

Do you have any news about new versions? Any announcements were made?

Thanks!!!

Annual Release Change
 - Microsoft Money Plus continues to be a valuable tool for our customers;
however the feedback we are hearing is that the incremental updates to the
software don't merit a new product every year. Given this, we have decided
against releasing a 2009 version of Money Plus.
 - We are moving off of an annual release cycle for Microsoft Money Plus (no
Money 2009 version in the fall), with future release dates TBD. Money Plus
continues to be a valuable tool for our customers, however the feedback we
are hearing loud and clear is that, after 17 years in the market, the
incremental updates to the software don't merit a new product release every
year. Given this, we have decided against releasing a 2009 version of Money
Plus.

100% Online distribution (out of the packaging business and physical retail
store shelves)
 - More and more retail consumers are going online to shop the endless rows
of digital shelves. In response to our retail partners' needs, consumer
behavior and business efficiencies, Microsoft is focusing distribution
efforts for Microsoft Money Plus software online via download and
discontinuing traditional box sales of the software at retail.
 - Microsoft Money Plus will continue to be available at retail outlets
while supplies last. We have stopped shipping new product to retail outlets.
 - We have been listening to our customers and analyzing market trends and
business dynamics and feel that distribution the software product online
will provide our customers with the right mix of products and services that
will meet their needs.
 - The combination of Money Plus and MSN Money will continue to provide a
comprehensive source for our customer's money and personal finance needs.
Through the various tools and tight integration with the site, Money Plus
customers can get a complete view of their finances, understand what bills
have been paid and which are due, access stock information and tap into the
extensive list of financial experts on MSN Money for tips and guidance.

Thanks for quick answer!

Now I don't know what to do. Continue using trial and reinstalling it every
time it expires, o to buy an existing version (2008) with a risk that MS
decides to release something in a mid of 2009.

As I understood: they decided to stop annual releases and to release a new
version only if something major improvement will be implemened.

Hmmm...

It would be good for 2 years after activation. I don't think
reinstalling the trial over and over is going to work for you.

I believe they code the trial end date in the data file so just reinstalling
it will do you no good.

They haven't implemented a major improvement in many years and it is far
from clear they are interested in or staffed up to develop such an
improvement. It is also far from clear that they'd even know what
constituted a "major improvement". They've ignored a decade's worth of
requests for them and instead done lots of nibbling around the edges and
dumbing down. If development of a "major improvement" is the gate to
something to follow on to M+, I'd say we'll be waiting a long time.

Given this, my recommendation is to go pop the $30 for M+ Deluxe and get on
with life.

Well there goes my annual Christmas gifts to various people in the family and
friends. Tradditionally gave Microsoft Money Premium but now nothing to do
about carrying this forward since you disolved the product or made it
impossible for me to purchase to give as a gift, bummer!
