Problem writing Time-Out function
Alright this one might seem a little odd. Basically when I initialize my
dialog I have to call a routine (RunSameThread) which unfortunately calls
some functions set with a library (which I don't have the source code for)
which may not exit. (Basically this call should initialize the COM port and
send's some commands to a transceiver attached to the port, then wait for a
response before returning). Now, if the transceiver is not hooked up (or
turned on) the COM port initialization will go though, but the library
function will sit in an infinite loop :(

When running the Search feature in Windows XP, I am trying to locate Excel
files containing a specific text string, but get nothing, even though I know
they exist. Any suggestions?
Try to search from excel itself, file>open, now in the file open window
select tools and find
there you can specify like in your case AND/OR contents/includes words etc..
The file search in windows XP is terrible

We have an exchange org with servers in different parts of the world...all
under one forest, with separate domains, separate mail servers, etc...but we

Your Windows version has nothing to do with your Publisher version.
Has your version of Publisher been changed by your recent change? Did you
just upgrade Windows or did you switch to a new comput...search
Search does not work properly in ON 2010.
It does not pick up all matching cases of what is being searched on a page.
After one selects the whole page, then ON picks it up.
And still ON search does not select parts of words.
For example it does not pick up "ord" while you have "words" as a word.
I don't know what ius going on with search in ON 2010. It should be really

Requesting help with a question, please. I'm trying to email a document I
created with Publisher. I saved the document to my "documents" folder and
attach it to my email from there. When I send the email, the editing screen
around the document goes with the document in the email. However, I want to
email just the document, not the editing screen. Any help on this would be

Change the number style of endnotes from within Word. The pasted notes
should adjust to that.

I've never used this mode and have never heard of it. I turned on my computer
yesterday and tried to edit my resume and it claims the document is now
locked and I am in compatibility mode. Can someone help me understand what

It does not look like vista is full text indexing word documents.
I have set the option:
Indexing Options in the Control Panel and click Advanced,
then clicked the File Types tab. Add the .doc, doxc file types
and clicked the option to "index properties and file contents."
However I still cannot full text search word document.
The answer to Vista's lame search is:

WindowsXp search was slow but WORKING, especially...Search Companion
I have two hard drives - 'C' is internal and 'I' is an external USB
I do not want to ever search the external 'I' drive.
In Search Companion I select just the 'C' drive (instead of 'C;I') and
the search functions properly.
I then close and reopen the Search Companion and the default search
has switched back to 'C' and 'I'.

I have been tolerating this design problem for years. As more and more
emails accumulate in my inbox ( I have to keep them for possible future
reference), This problem gets worse. Whenever I try to search for certain
emails, Outlook will start from the oldest date it has. Until now I have
always wanted to look for something that's recent, so it wastes time when it
goes through thousands of old emails before showing the new ones I am looking
for. Please tell me a way to change the order outlook searches things. I
don't want to install some 3rd party softw...searching emails in whole mailbox
My Outlook is just upgraded to Outlook 2007. It drives me crazy. In Outlook
2003, if I want to search an email in the whole mailbox, I will go to
Advanced search and browse to the mailbox and it looks for the email
everywhere. But in Outlook 2007, I did the same thing, it finds nothing. I
have to check the folder to search. The problem is if I know the email is in
which folder, why I need search? That doesn't make any sense at all.
Please help! I need to search an email in the all folders, in the whole
email account. How can I do it?

When I open a Word document that was created as a form from our Intranet
(Sharepoint), it gives me a message that says "Server Document. To modify
this document, click Edit Document". there is a button that says "Edit
Document". If I click the button, it will allow me to fill in the form. In
Office 2003, it would automatically go into edit mode, but in Office 2007 we

Apay payments with no ending date, and nothing in the number of payments
