How do I remove the US (english) as a default language

  • Follow

Hi everyone

I am using Word 2007 and would like to know how to remove the English (US)
setting to default to English (Australia). I have been into "Word Options",
"Popular" tab and changed it and have also changed it in a Word under
"Thesaurus", "Set Language", however it keeps reverting back to English (US)
which is very frustrating.

Could someone please show me how to permanently default it to English
(Australia)?

Do they speak English in Oz? <g>

You have to look in a couple of places to make this work. Check your
Regional Settings in Windows and also check the keyboard language.

Thanks for your help Gordon.

I was able to change the "Regional Settings" to English (Australia) in the
Control Panel, however in the drop down list for "Keyboard layout IME"
Australia does not appear - only US and UK

Is there a way I can add it to the list?

Tke keyboard *layout* refers to the actual layout of the keyboard and not to
the country per se. I suspect you will have a US pattern keyboard It is the
input language that is relevant to the problem and not the keyboard itself.
