Whenever I come out of any of the microsoft office programs, word, excel 
etc., I get a message box stating "Microsoft Office Live Add-in Sign-in has 
stopped working". Nothing seems amiss when I use office. Can anyone help as 
to why I get this message.

Have you tried uninstalling the add-in via Add or Remove Programs in Control 
Panel?
