Length of Address (Path)
I have Windows XP.
Some of my document folders have long names and the document within the
folder may also have a long name. Do you know hwo long a path can be in
order for it to work?
When I had Windows 98 I had a document path that was too long and I could
not seem to retrive the document. Can Windows XP paths any longer

both Win9x and WinXP.

Windows XP SP3 E510 Computer
Thanks for all the links.
Information re short names is rather confusing to me.
I had a document with a name that was too long and I was trying to delete it
from a folder on my my External Drive. I was able to delete it by just
renaming it: 1.
Can you please clarify correct way. Say paths weres:

Barbaral/BARBARA GENEALOGY\Books and Materials\BOOKS\Book - The Family Trees
The Whole Mishpokes\BOOK PARTS - THE FAMILY TREES THE WHOLE
MISHPOKES\CHARTS~1
G:\Manual Backup 12-6-09\Genealogy\This Genealogy Sent To Barbaral/BARBARA
GENEALOGY\Books and Materials\BOOKS\Book - The Family Trees The Whole
Mishpokes\BOOK PARTS - THE FAMILY TREES THE WHOLE MISHPOKES\CHARTS~1
