Media player keeps exiting out

Everytime i try to play a video, a message comes up saying that "Windows media player has stopped working" and it exits. ive done a virus scan on everything and nothing popped up so i know its not the files. But what's weird is that songs can play just fine.

Double entries in Windows Media Player after installing Windows 7

I just installed windows 7 on my computer. In preparation I had moved all my music off to another drive. I installed windows 7, then office 2007 and then moved my music files into the appropriate folder and then deleted the backup. When I launched windows media player version 12.0.7600.16415 all my music is screwed up. Under Media Player 11 the files would group CD's with different musicians under Various Artists. Cd Burning Problems

I am trying to burn a few songs to an Audio CD-R in Windows Media, I have added them to the burn list, however the start burn button at the bottom of the pane does not light up for me to click it to actually start the burn.... Am i missing a step? This worked for me in the past and now i am ver confused?

When showing the 'list pane' during play, is it possible to change the order of the columns? Or even delete some of the columns, like 'rating'?

Windows Media Player doesn't work

Ok so the other day I restarted my computer. Once it loaded back up I went to use windows media player and all my music had gone. My playlists had all disappeared and I was told there was no music in my library. I tried to add my music again but when I tried, it did nothing. So now I can only listen to a track on there but it doesn't get stored in the library and everything I once had in there is now gone. Has anyone encountered the same problem? WMP11: Finding tracks that are not in my default location

I have "Add media files to library when played" so I have a proportion of my files outside my main media directory. Is there an easy way to find these files? I can write an OLE program, but I'm feeling lazy. I've just bought a Logitech Squeezebox Duet, and its media server uses a single root directory. No Music in Library

After reading through several troubleshooting guides, it seems I have a broken Windows Media Player library. However, none of the methods work for me. I cannot do delete my files because it keeps saying it's in use by another program or person, even if I restart my computer. It says the title of the file cannot have a "\" symbol in it, so I can't rename it. There is no "Advanced" option under "Tools", so I can't repair it that way either. I have WMP version 11 and Window XP Service Pack 3. I want my music to show up in the library.

Cannot play the file

I get this error in Windows Media Player when trying to run a playlist made of .jpegs - after some try I found the problem is the .jpgs size being 4000x3000 pixel, the memory size being about 3MB, while all is ok with another group of jpegs sized 3MB too but with 2800x2100 pixels. The first group comes from digital photos taken with the setting "12MB normal resolution" while the second group has been taken by setting "6MB fine resolution". WMP media info update

Apparently WMP does not support or include CD-text which is needed for burning with and reading media information. Here is the odd thing. Itunes does. So I figure o.k. burn it with Itunes. But guess what. Same problem. Even with CD-text Itunes will only display media info created by the original Itunes program, and not on another PC Itunes or WMP. So what is the deal? How can I organize multiple disc sets as one album?

I have been using iTunes for many years but I decided to give WMP a try since I am using Media Center and also want a lossless codec. Missing songs/videos/playlists

For some reason EVERYTHING in my media library is gone and it won't come back. I can see the media on the computer if I look in Windows Explorer, but when I open Windows Media PLayer 11, there are no files shown. Can't Sync Playlists Using Windows Media Player

I have developed playlists using Windows Media Player. Some of the files in the playlist are duplicated. Every time I attempt to sync with the mp3 device the new playlist eliminates all the duplicate files and leaves me with only a single copy of mp3 files. This will not work for me. I need playlists I developed to be synced with my device in their original form. Can anyone tell me why Windows Media Player keeps throwing out all the duplicate files?

Copying (ripping?) to hard drive...

Hi, I am running Vista- Home Premium and am having a real problem trying to copy recorded speech, recorded on a CD-R disc in the mp3 format. cannot find file

I moved my music library to an external hard drive. Now windows media player cannot find any file. It tells me that "the item might point to a file that has been moved, renamed, or deleted." I know that. Even if I open the music folder in my external hardrive and click "play", or "open with", media player cannot find it. Real player can find it, but I never really used it before that library has not had a change. Can anyone help me get media player to find these files.

I am having trouble with the Media Player not showing the videos that people send me in their emails. WMV plays on WMP12 (Win7) but not WMP11 (WinXP)

I have a user who received a PPT from another user who uses Windows 7/WMP12. The PPT includes WMV videos. The user who received the file is running XP/WMP11 and he cannot view the videos, it gives him an error. I tried opening the videos on another Win7 PC that I have here and it works fine. I tried to load Roxie Easy Media Creator Suite 9 onto my computer to give my another avenue of DVD creation. WMP 12 doesn not play video's continuously

My audio in WMP 12 (Win 7) plays like a radio so in de library I just have to click on one song and it keeps on playing for hours, great. But with video after each clip I have got to open the library and click on the new video for playback. Life's too short for that and with WMP 10 and lower I never had this problem. Can you help me? music files start to play but stop playing after a few seconds

I have Vista operating system. Windows Media PLayer version is 11.0.6002.18005. My problem is I start windows media player audio files the music plays for a few seconds then stops. The slide bar continues to progress but there is no sound. I tried a resart of both program and computer, neither helped. Library won't load

Hi. I've had this issue for a while now and I don't know what's wrong. I try to load my music and it won't. I know how to and I know I'm doing it correctly. I've checked, and WMP is the default player for *every* type of file going. The only way I can get music to play is by going to the folder it's in and clicking on individual files. I can also add music to a playlist but I can't save the playlist.

Enabling DSP plugin in WMP12 fails to repeat playing a media file

I created a video dsp plugin by VS 2005 and MS SDK 6.1. It can be registered in WMP12 (windows 7) and working fine. However, when I click stop and click play to re-start playing a media file, WMP always returns with error "Can not process the request". If I set playback mode to "Repeat", WMP still fails to re-play the file. I doubted that there was some errors in my plugin codes but I created another video dsp plugin by the wizard and just built it without any modification, the result was the same. "Seeking" works beautifully if the client is Windows 7 with Media Player 12 however if the client is XP with Media Player 11, the "seeking" does not work at all. WMP Suddenly Won't Recognize Many Files in Rip Folder

Running WMP 11.0.5721.5268 within WindowsXP, Home Ed., V.2002, SP3. By last night, I had successfully ripped many CDs in albums (and genres) beginning A through M. This morning, WMP recognizes and will play only those CDs in A thru D. WindowsExplorer indicates that all folders, A thru M, are still in the rip folder and filled with content. For a while, an error message something like "Delayed Write Error ... failed to find (or save) file L:\$xlm (or some such); save it somewhere else", where "L" is the portable drive containing the rip folder. Anyone with a clue what to do

MOV files - use ffdshow audio in MP11

I have ffdshow installed on several computers successfully but I have a problem with one machine that refuses to use ffdshow audio codecs when it opens video-camera Quicktime MOV files. The result, of course, is a silent movie as MP11 can't figure out the audio track (which I believe is just PCM). For other ffdshow supported formats MP11 correctly activates video and audio codecs as necessary, but for the MOV format this particular machine activates only the ffdshow video and then briefly flashes the message "Acquiring Codec". Media Player stutters

I just got a new computer with Windows 7 and whatever version of Media Player is included. When I try to play .avi videos that I made in Movie Maker on another computer, they drag and stutter and are totally hopeless. They play fine on several other computers. .wmv files play OK as do .avi files made from snippets of TV shows. I have a lot of old music on cds that I want on my computer and everytime I pop one in I get this message....Is there a way to stop it from checking after every disk?? Windows Media Player cannot download media information for the CD. The tracks,artist, and album will be identified as "Unknown" in your library.
