Outlook Express Mail vs. Windows Mail (Vista) I'm retiring my old computer which used Outlook Express as its email program. The computer that I will now be using runs Vista with Windows Mail. I have quite a few emails in various folders on my Outlook that I need to save for future reference. Is there a way to migrate those emails to Windows Mail? Not getting eircom account e-mails I have noticed over the past couple of weeks that i have been missing some e-mails . When i send people e-mails who are with eircom as thet mail provider, I cant recieve the e-mail back. I have asked the to resend the mail directily but still no joy. why I see times new roman? I have several html email messages composed in outlook express 6, I'm sure I highlited all text and set it to Arial 10. Then I drag the file to desktop, move it to vista windows mail draggin into inbox or other folder. The result is some parts of text shows arial 10 but some others Times new roman 10 or 12 what is annoying, because I use all arial 10, so I have to manually forward the email, highligh it again and set arial 10 and then, yes, I can see it properly. recovered messages folders again and again and cant visualize Today windows mail "crashed" with no obvious reason. After that a "recovered messages" folder started to appear, so moved my "recovered" out the recovered folder to it's original position. I was almost glad at that point, but now on a closer look what I have is: My folders have the full amount of my messages, and my messages keep the subject and file size, but I can't visualize any content (just an error message instead saying message can't show), I'm surprised because those are not 0 kb files... sign-in I cannot sign in to my mail. I have to re-enter my password and it will not accept it any longer. I cannot use my mail for incoming, or outgoing. Windows Mircrosoft word student Having problems with MS program 2007 student I purchase and put on my pc, the spacing feature, no matter what I do the spacing still gives me double spacing after hard enter always double space and I have to reset for single spacing after hard enter if I don’t press enter will auto go to next line sometimes I do not want a double space after pressing enter unless specified . MS word as default email editor this is the first time i am using windows mail. in all earlier versions like outlook / express etc, i know this option where you can use word as default editor for composing all new mail messages. this ensures that we can format / allign / bullet etc just like in word. Keystrokes In the old Outlook Express, I would use Ctrl-U to go to the next unread message, then I'd use the spacebar to scroll the message. Now, using the spacebar moves to the next message (not the next unread message, just the next message in the queue.) windows mail opening a file I receive mail that has a attachment with it that I cannot open. It has a pps file and I receive a error notice that reads, Information variable MEET_REG_CLASS_OVERRIDE isundefined the error accurred on line 390. Refreshing list Hello! Okay, in the general goings on, this is pretty minor, but it is frustrating so perhaps someone can help. I only use WM for newsgroup access and as such, expand many entries of various groups to follow threads. As I'm in a thread reading, the WM list of articles will refresh and reset itself back to the top of the list and I lose my place. My deleted emails don't stay in my Deleted Items folder. If I read an email from my inbox then delete it that email doesn't appear in my "Deleted Items" folder. They seem to automatically purge. If I delete an email that has not been opened then that unread email does show up in my "Deleted Items" folder. I can do a right-click find on the "Deleted Items" folder and it appears to find emails but I'm not sure. I need to reset something so all my emails stay in the "Deleted Items" folder until I choose to purge them. Windows Mail Error Randomly but alot lately, I keep getting this error message that the server has an error and it may be due to things like memory and other things. Getting rid of Windows Mail Whenever I enter into Windows Mail, it takes all of the e-mails from my online account and I can no longer view those e-mails online. This is beginning to be a problem when I'm not at home and need to access certain e-mails that have been moved to my Windows Mail on my laptop. How do I move all of my e-mails in Windows Mail, back to my comcast account and stop Windows Mail from transferring all of my e-mails every time I open it? I found out something Recently I complained about some of my replies missing in Windows Mail newsgroups (Subject: whats wrong with this program?) Today I had same problems again, but this time in Outlook Express. However, I discovered the cause must be the news server "msnews.microsoft.com". Replying To Signed E-mail I have a digital signature and the e-mail I send out is signed but not encrypted. People that use Windows Mail (in Vista) have a problem replying to my e-mail. A requestor comes up telling them that they also need a digital signature which they do not want or need. This requestor can be turned off and the reply can be sent if you go into Tools and uncheck sign this e-mail or something like that. It gets very annoying to have to do this every time they reply to a signed e-mail. These people are old and do not handle change very well. Whenever I open Mail, it proceeds to do the automatic send/receive function, but then I continue to get this message: The connection to the server has failed. why won't full e-mail message open? When clicking on an e-mail message to read, only a small window will open to read it. Somehow my settings must have gotten changed and I don't know how to re-set them. I have tried looking in Tools/Options/Read but I still can't find the correct setting to select so I don't have to keep expanding the e-mail to read it. It seems like a small thing, but when you're trying to go thru a lot of e-mail messages, it's time consuming to have to expand each e-mail, especially when replying to a message. smtp.live.com via windows vistas built in mail : SSL error I am using Vistas Winmail ( not "livemail" ) and I use it for a hotmail account. Don't tell me it does not work, because it did all the time succesfully in and out for months. Hotmail is not possible via pop3 is a myth.It also works via Outlook Express on xp. I needed to format the laptop and reinstall vista, so am starting from new. I have installed every Servicepack and Update available to the OS via automatic updates. Trouble linking Windows Mail & AOL I am trying to send a msg on Craig's List... when I reply to a vendor, I receive a prompt to utilize Windows Mail automatically. When I tried to set up an account on Windows Mail using an AOL address thru IMAP, I got the error below. I have "My server reqrs authentication" checked in properties and I am using "587" as my outgoing smtp port and "143" as incoming imap port. I can see my AOL folders on the Windows Mail box and I can send and receive w/ aol, but when I try to send via WM, the msg sits in the Outbox. Error msg: "XAOL-UAS-MB authentication failed. links do not work I recently switched to Verizon after being with Comcast for a zillion years and now when I click on a link in my email it does not work unless I am already on the internet. This is annoying and hopefully it can be fixed. Verizon does not supply much help on the website and so far I don't like their email and would rather continue using Windows Mail if I can fix this. It probably happened when I had to install McAffee again since that is Verizon's security program. Vista's Contacts not working Hi, I tried using a tweak to move my "user files" folder's to "my documents" folder left from the XP OS which was on another partition on my hard drive, it didn't work well so I reversed everything. Now every time I click on "contacts", the "my documents" folder opens up which now shows as a shortcut in my Vista's "user files". My Contacts folder (which is empty) is still in the "user files" folder. However, I cannot open Contacts by a shortcut or within the Windows mail. email When we use our emails either retrieving or sending it freezes and sometimes just goes out, both emails, through yahoo and gmail. We can use the computer fine for everything else. The email takes forever like it is stuck and when i respond to something it takes me literally over an hour to do one email, it will let me do about 2 letters then it freezes, and to click to view an email that takes forever, please help. Suspected Windows Mail Corruption I was using windows mail very successfully for the last 4 months and had no problems. Then a week ago I generated a group of 35 different mails under a name and tried to send a normal e-mail to these 35 different people. Windows mail would not let me. it came up with an error. I checked with my internet and e-mail provider (Comcast) and confirmed all server settings in windows mail were correct.
