Urgent! Error when move public folder

  • Follow

Hi,

I am migrating SBS 2003 to 2008. I got an error message "The token supply to
the function is invalid. ID no: 80090308. Exchange system manager" when I
move public folder. It seems related to the certificate, but don't know how
to fix.

My trusted certificate was original purchased for website
“webmail.mycompany.com”. When I do the Internet Address migration, I
accidently select "Remote" in the wizard as the domain prefix. It is in the
wizard by default after click Advanced button. so my server became
remote.mycompany.com. Even I imported the valid certificate for
webmail.mycompany.com, SBS 2008 still cannot see it. My question is if it is
too late to change it back now and how? I plan to call my third party
certificate computer to purchase "remote.mycomany.com", but I just wondering
if it can fix the problem.

Microsoft should give the warning when add the domain prefix.

Need urgent help!!

Any help will be highly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Don't be in too much of a hurry. I'm not sure whether your error is related
to the certificate or not.

Did you really use mycompany.com? Does your company have a public web
site--I.e. www.mycompany.com ?

It is recommended that you use mycompany.local.

I believe that you can change remote.x.y to webmail.x.y without too much
difficulty--I think this has been posted here recently.
(looked for reference and didn't find it....)

If you can do that, the certificate can definitely be added.

Lisa,

You posted this to the migration group. Did you post it anywhere else?

Below was my reply in the other group. In the future, it's to your benefit
to "cross-post" instead of making multiple single posts. You'll need a
newsreader for that. Responses will populate to all cross-posted groups
simultaneously so you don't have to hunt down each post you created for
responses. However, *please* do keep in mind to choose the appropriate group
to post based on the topic. Your question was not a migration question.

====
Lisa,

Relax, your certificate is fine. All you have to do is uncheck "Require
Secure Connection" under the Exadmin folder in the IIS Default Website
Properties.

Here's more info:

You receive an SSL Certificate error message when you view public ...ID no:
c103b402. Exchange System Manager. The token supplied to the function is
invalid. ID no: 80090308. Exchange System Manager. Back to the top ...

For purposes of the migration remove the SSL from the public folder.

Way one:
The token supplied to the function is invalid. ID no:80090308 Exchange
System Manager - THE OFFICIAL BLOG OF THE SBS "DIVA":
http://msmvps.com/blogs/bradley/archive/2009/11/10/the-token-supplied-to-the-function-is-invalid-id-no-80090308-exchange-system-manager.aspx

Way two:
Moving public folders - THE OFFICIAL BLOG OF THE SBS "DIVA":
http://msmvps.com/blogs/bradley/archive/2009/11/11/moving-public-folders.aspx

You can just rerun the third party cert wizard no prob.

Hi Ace,

Thanks for your reply. I fixed the certificate issue by replace "Remote"
prefix by "Webmail", now I am able to see the trusted certificate and Remote
Workplace works, however I still get error to move public folder. See my
first post.

Another question: can I move user's mailbox prior to move Public? Since I
stuck here, I don't know if there is an order I have to follow.

Please advice!

Thanks again,
Lisa

Are you following the migration documentation? Follow that white paper.

Follow the KB that Ace posted -- it's exactly what is needed here.

You receive an SSL Certificate error message when you view public
folders in Exchange System Manager:

Hi Lisa,

I apologize sayign this wasn't a migration issue, since it actually is.

My feeling with the cert, is you have to create a new CRS in SBS 2008, and
get the issuing CA to give you a new one. However, Susan gave you some good
advise on how to deal with the cert.

Hi Susan, thank you very much for your reply. It took me almost a day, but I
am still stuck here. I unchecked both “Require secure channel (SSL)” and
“Require 128-bit encryption.”, still doesn't work. So I tried to launch ADSI
edit and follow the instruction that you provided, but I cannot open ADSI MMC
snap-in. :(

Please advice!

Thanks again,
Lisa

Hi Susan,

Finally I fixed the problem. I should registrate adsi.dll to be able to open
ADSI edit snap-in. I am able to move public folder now.

Thanks again,

Lisa

Start/ Run ADSIEDIT.MSC does not work on your 2003 server? On the 08
server I bet you have to do a run as thing.

Towards the bottom of the article about permissions but no real
answer. I tried on a SBS 2008 and I could not get anything to happen.
Just rebooted that server after appying some updates. I need to reach
another to see what might be up. That second server let me in but it
started with a permissions prompt. The first server worked after a
reboot.
