Server not appearing in SBS Console

  • Follow

Hello,

I have a single SBS 2008 Std server setup. In the SBS Console when you click
on the Network button and select the Computers tab there is a section that
displays Servers. The problem is that my SBS server does not appear in this
list. The message provided is: "Unable to query for computer..."

All other computers (desktops/laptops) appear correctly under Client
Computers.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks,

Regan

What organizational unit is it in on the group policy console?
Did you adjust/disable the firewall on the server?

Hello Regan,

Thanks for your post and Susan's advice.

I also agree that you should check/adjust/disable the firewall on the SBS server if there is any. Also, please check if the following checklist helps:

Why is My Computer Status Not Showing Online in the SBS Console?

Hi Susan,

I've tried disabling the firewall on the server but that did not help. The
server is in the Domain Controllers OU.

One thing I noticed while poking around is that the server belongs to the
site Default-First-Site-Name while all of the computers do not belong to any
site. Is this correct for a new SBS installation or was something changed
from defaults?

Thanks!

Regan
