Having a problem connecting to a new 2008 R2 Remote Desktop Services (ie
Terminal Server) box through RWW (from a SBS 2003 R2 server). The new server
is setup and working properly in terms of licensing etc (has 15 user CALs for
RDP, have tested on LAN with multiple users and confirmed working). The
problem arises in connections through RWW, from a Windows 7 machine. When
trying to connect to the Application-Sharing Server, I see the server listed
(APP-SERVER) and click connect, brings up the prompt about Clipboard/Printers
being shared, and then gives the error message “The remote computer
disconnected the session because of an error in the licensing protocol.
Please try connecting to the remote computer again or contact your server
administrator “. When trying to do this same thing from a Windows XP
machine, I can login to RWW and then choose to connect to the APP-SERVER and
I can login no problem using my credentials. I have looked everywhere for
some hint as to what settings it is having trouble with coming from a W7
machine. I have not tried this under Vista. I’m wondering if it has
something to do with the version of RDP on the client, but not sure how I
could change that on the W7 machine to make this work. Both the XP machine
and W7 machine have IE8 installed, along with all WUpdates. Any ideas?
