Cannot enable Shadow Copies on C: volume
Thank you in advance for any help.
I cannot enable Shadow Copies on my C:\ volume but I can on my E:\

My problems started after pushing the BackupExec 2010 agent to this
server. It was running the BE 12.5 agent previously. Now it does not
have either BackupExec agent installed.

schedulled task never ends launchning a batch
Hi,
I use a batch like
@echo off
start engine.exe /I1
exit
and schedule the batch. When executed manually the batch is executed,
cmd.exe closes down. When the batch is executed by the 2008 scheduler
the cmd.exe is never closing down.
Any clue?

Blank Screen during 2008 Standard Installation
I have a Dell Poweredge 700 that I am trying to install Windows 2008 Server
Standard on. I boot from the installation DVD and it goes through the
initial process where you see the black and white status bar. Then for a
split second I see a green status bar and then just a blank black screen.
Any idea what might be causing this? Possible driver issue?
Thanks,

GPO doesn't work for specific OU
Hello,
I created a new OU for a single Win 2003 Std R2 SP2 Term Server. I then

It's not taking, and I can't seem to find the reason on the DC's EV\App or

Does any one know how to remove the configuration (IP address, netmask,

I ran in to this recently after a p2v conversion when I went to

an adapter that had been removed from the system.
I was able to find the information in the registry and remove it so that

When I run search terms, I'm unable to drag n drop the results into either a

only available option that is working is to open each result and save it into
the file folder.
I am getting over 1000 results for some search terms and having to save the

Windows 2008 local printer port disappears
Hi,
We have a Windows 2008 server which is working as file and print server, as
part of its role we have what we call a BIN printer installed on it.
Basically this is a fake printer which we set up on a Local Port called null
so that anything that is printed to it is deleted handy for miss sent prints.
The trouble is when ever the print spooler is restarted the null port
disappears, the printer is still there but is now offline.
I have tried with different port names but the same thing happens.
Can anyone help?

Server 2003 slow copying from external drives
I just re-installed SBS 2003 when the drives in the RAID array failed. I
rebuilt it without a RAID.
I am experiencing excrutiatingly slow copying from external USB drives. All
Windows freeze while copying a large file (2GB+) from the external drive to

I have tried more than one external drive to eliminate drive problems as a

I have scanned the c: drive (chkdsk /R /X c:) for errors and found none.
Copying from internal drive to internal drive does not cause the freezing or
very slow copy speeds.

Hi,
The team I am part of administers the IT of a few customers. Their
environment consists of at least 150 Windows 2003 Servers and some 1500
Windows XP workstations.
Since last year we developed and tested a "migration" from Windows 2003
Server SP1 to SP2, unattended and with the aid of Windows SMS 2003.
Tests did not show major problems but now, after we deployed SP2 to all

schtasks user
Hi,
the following command from a remote machine to a win2k3:
schtasks /Run /S 192.168.1.6 /U mysrv\myusr /P mypwd /TN mytask
If myusr is administrator, it works, if it is simple user, it doesn't. Is
there a less-privileged group my user shoud belong to for this command to
work?
tnx in advance
Agostino

Datacenter and virtualization rights
Hi.
"Datacenter licenses include unlimited virtualization rights, meaning
customers have the use rights to run an unlimited number of virtualized
instances of Windows Server."
...but what if we want to use a virtual XP machine or Win7 also. Do we need
some extra license?

Office 2010 KMS on Server 2008R2
We currently have a KMS running on Server 2008 to activate windows servers. I
have setup a new server running server 2008R2. I entered a MAK to activate
the server itself. I then ran the KeyManagementServiceHost.exe and entered
the KMS host product key. I received the reply "Microsoft Office 2010 KMS
host product key has been successufully installed and activated" and I have 6
installs of Office 2010 Pro plus, but when I run slmgr/dlv, I see product key
information related to the windows server 2008R2 instead of Office. There is
nothing in the log for KMS.
