Media Center Screen Scaling Issue - microsoft.public.windows.mediacenter

I have a desktup running 2 screens. My main runs at 1650x1080 and the second
is 1280x1024. I always run my media center in a window streched to the max
size on the second screen.

The problem is that I can't get it to go to 4:3 in windows 7. In Vista I was
able to do this by dragging the media center so it was overlapping both
screens and then maximising it. That used to make it 4:3 when it was restored
but that doesn't seem to work in vista.

The first week I was using 7 I did get it to behave but I have no idea how,
now it's stuck and I can't seem to fix it.

Oops, one correction, It did work in vista but doesn't in 7.

I suggest that you drag and drop a copy of the MC icon to the second screen
so that you start from there.
Also suggest that you go back through the MC TV setup on Win7 and make sure
are not able to set the aspect ration to 4:3 when in full screen mode.

7 Getting Hot maybe I need to put XP away and go win7 for that 4:3
Resolutions with my PHILIPS HD-TV

No change with trying the icon thing. I've ran the wizard easily 40 times in
different combinations and haven't gotten it to behave.

When I use the MC wizard for an HDMI TV interface in Win7 the first question
I get asked is is the aspect ratio 4:3 or 16:9.
You may have to change the type of display you tell the wizard you have.

You'll have to trust me, I know the product very well and it's not as simple
as that. I've run the wizard many times and have tired selecting 16:9 on the
other screen then going back to 4:3 on the secondary and every imaginable
combination of that with no luck.

Every so often it seems to go back to 4:3 but then for no reason it goes
back to 16:9 and there is nothing I can do to make it 4:3.

This morning for no apparent reason and no changes in settings it's back to
4:3. Just to test I've run the wizard several times + restarted and I can't
get it to go 16:9. Not that I want it to go 16:9 but just to confirm the
settings don't work reliably.

This is just a guess, it may be that the setting options in the Win7 MC
wizard depend besides depending on the type of display you are using also
depend on which screen of the extended desktop you are running MC from or on
EDID data from the display used for the screen of the extended desktop
screen you are running MC from.
