"IR Hardware Not Detected" error on Windows XP MCE 2005 with SP3

  • Follow

I own an HP dv6000t. It came with the Yuan EC680 ExpressCard Analog TV
Tuner. When I upgraded, to Vista, the IR receiver seemed to be detected,
but NOT after downgrading to XP MCE 2005. XP MCE 2005 was the ORIGINAL OS
on the system (purchased November 2006). I have updated drivers for BOTH
the tuner card AND the nVidia GeForce Go 7400 video card which DID NOT
remedy this issue. Any suggestion on how to fix it would be greatly
appreciated. Everything HP has had me try, including Sofpaq fixed did not
remedy my issue. It does not give the "IR Hardware Not Detected" error
until AFTER it correctly detects the signal from my digital cable box.
Could the major problem partly be the US FINALLY converted to digital TV
signal and I am still trying to use this analog ExpressCard tuner? Again,
any help is greatly appreciated.

When you downgraded to XP MCE 2005 what DVD Decoder software did you install
since XP MCE 2005 does not come with any,
the origional decoder software that came from HP or some other Decoder
software?

I installed whatever is installed when you let windows detect HP Analog TV
Tuner (Yuan EC680). Where would one find such software information?

The DVD decoder is not part of the driver set for the tuner, it is separate
software (a video codec actually) that is needed for DVD/mpeg playback.

When building your own system in XP, you had to purchase this from a 3rd
party (like nVidia), however with a pre-built MC system with a tuner, it
would have been included as part of the system.

Check your original HP setup discs, or do as Curious suggests, and contact
HP.
