Access to Microsoft forums and error 13
I wanted to get a wider audience for the error 13 problem that may
have been fixed with the latest download. I signed up for the
Microsoft's green button, received a confirmation but can't log on.
I probably have to wait for someone to come in on Monday.
Meanwhile, could someone use the green button media center forum to
confirm that the problem was introduced with the previous to last
fix and the latest fix solved the problem. I can't verify the fix
because I switched to cable and the problem is unique to dialup
(switched lines). There's no information with the fix install

MCE2005 takes awhile deleting a file..
Have Media Center 2005 at home.
When I right click a file and try to delete it, it takes 15 or 20 seconds.
Anybody know why? The file isn't that large. Could be just a PDF on my
desktop, or even a text file or JPG.

Some three months into Windows 7 X64 and just about reconciled to absence of

[Meta] This newsgroup
So... Microsoft is "discontinuing" this newsgroup...
but... that's not really going to have much of an effect, will it? Other
than eliminating a bit of the noise we get from people not knowing there was
a web bridge to it and posting random things at times...
Microsoft might send a cancel group... but they tend to be ignored by most
news providers... and I kinda think they won't actually do that anyway...
So... isn't that going to really mean "business as usual" around here?

from the computer"...an icon is on the desktop, and I'm advised that when I
click on the install icon it will be installed...again, and again..ad nauseam.
3.5 SP-1 will not even complete downloading (56MB file, I believe),

Updating to .NET Framework 3.5 sp1...HELP!!!
I've been trying to get this update installed for MONTHS, but 'no joy'! The
'boot-strapped' version (52MB at the time) is what I'd prefer, since the
'full package' is a bit over 300MB, and even the 52MB fails to install before
shutting down and re-starting (every 5 minutes). The "dial-up" connection
doesn't help in the LEAST, obviously, so I'm wondering if there's another
method/"location" to get it done.
HELP!...I'm about to pull what remaining hair I've GOT out by the roots!

Win 7 & Media Center Extenders
I have an old Linksys Dual-Band Wireless A/G Extender with new Dell Win 7
ultimate machine. I can see the Extender on the network but MC cannot seem to
grab tge extender after entering the code. Firewall does not seem to be
knocking down and I have an xbox that works fine as an extender. Any Idea's
would be much welcomed as I am running out of why's.

.NET Framework v.3.5 SP1
Is there ANYWHERE that I can get this downloaded other than the "Official
Microsoft Update" web site?
I'm running Windows XP Media Ctr. Edition 2005 SP-3, and even the
"bootstrapped" option (which shows as a 52MB download) not only "fails" every
time, it takes FOREVER to do even THAT, as I am online with a "dial-up"
connection, and a 56K modem doesn't run much faster that "5KB/sec" on an
exeptionally GOOD day! I'm about to pull my hair out here! HELP!

I FINALLY got my cable box to work correctly but now...
I keep getting this ""Copying Prohibited" message.
How do I get rid of that darn thing?
I know I can start as admin...but is there a way to just always start as
"admin"
I should know this, but I don't.
Thanks in advance,
Teresa

How to change from OTA to Cable Clear QAM in WMC7
When I installed my tuner, I set up Live TV for OTA DTV. Got terrible
reception, so I am trying to re-setup the live TV for digital cable clear
QAM. I can't seem to find the menu to change the way TV signals are
acquired. When I tried to change the TV signal menu, it entered the setup
process after the point that OTA DTV is selected. I really just want to
erase everything I did for live TV and start over. Is there a way to do
this, without re-installing windows?
