Messenger problem. I have had to completely uninstall my Messenger because I was get the following when I would get to my desk top. MSNMSGR.exe - Bad Image. The application or DLL C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Messenger\MSIMG32.dll is not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette. Run in XP 64-bit? Hello Microsoft techs, How do I install and run Live Messenger on Microsoft Windows XP 64-bit edition? Older version wouldn't work because they keep asking me to update to the new version (which does not install) before I can use messenger. Please don't just tell me it is not supported. A good internal Instant Messaging program for my company? Can anyone advise on a good Instant Messaging program I can use for my company? Something that would allow: 1) only IM within the company and 2) archiving/monitoring of IM usage. We were using Yahoo Messenger, but having heard many security concerns and other reasons decided to stop using it. We are a fairly small company with about 20 users. Some are in remote offices (connected via Site-to-site VPN tunnels with the main office). I was hoping there would be something Microsoft-based that we could use. How do I stop "Do you want to add this person to messenger" popups Several times a week I'm getting popups, asking if I want to "add this person to messenger". This is getting very, very annoying. How do I turn this "feature" off? About blocked contacts ? It seems lately that a wide number of unwanted persons use some sort of tool to search the web for email-adresses, hotmail preferably. Those attempts to add me on their contactlist, result a blocking and denial from my part. However, the list grows bigger by each month. I guess that there are no current solution to this unwanted "phenomena" ? It will for the future also be impossible to remove such unwanted contacts and hope that MSN also provides such that my adress is removed from THEIR list too ? Stop notifications from Windows Live Messenger Hi, I have Windows Live Mail. With the program closed, Windows Live Messenger keeps notifying me every time I get a new email. Windows Messenger Has Stopped Working Am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. Almost every time I start Windows 7 from either sleep or from cold boot I get the above message and have to click on Close program and then restart Messenger. However if I then put system in sleep or reboot again I get the same message again. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Windows Live multiple times and cleaned up registery files as indicated by MS instructions. Call missing from action menu I installed windows live messenger to use windows live call, but when I go to the action menu, the only option for calling is "Call a contacts computer". I'm living in the UK, and I thought that Windows Live Call was available here. I can't find anything to say it isn't, but the whole system appears very poorly documented (or poorly googlable, at any rate). Inhibit Windows Live Messenger I have just obtained a laptop with Windows 7, which includes Windows Live Messenger. I don't require WLM, but every time I boot up, I'm asked for my WLM password. How can I stop this - ideally I would like to stop WLM loading at start-up, but don't want to effect the functionality of Windows Live Mail which I do use. Can sort Emoticons? I have noticed that when you add emoticons, they show up at the end of the pre existing ones but when you restart MSN, your emoticons are not sorted by any understandable criteria making almost impossible to find an emoticon you want. I have over 500 custom emoticons and even when I try to use some easy namings, 500 is a huge number to remember them all. Is there any way to sort them by name or description? Is there any way to export or print out a guide with an icon sample and keys to activate each one? WLM for kids - broken links I have the most recent version of WLM 9 and additionally installed WLM for kids from http://www.kinder-messenger.de . Video-chat wont show own cam, other side sees/hears me. Looking for suggestions to resolve a problem with Windows Live Messenger. Windows XP Pro SP3 32bit. Windows live contacts not adding HI there every time i add new contacts they do not appear as having added me into their contact list even though they have. When i click tools options, etc. click see who has added you to their contact list these contact do not appear even thoughi know i am on their list and speak to them frequently. New message to pop up on desktop in front of me Hi all. I am having a little issue with not noticing at all when a new message arrives. Yes the taskbar flashes, and alert comes, but no message window appears on the desktop to let me know. I've searched all over under Messenger -> Tools -> Options to see if there is an option I can turn this feature back on. The reason is simple - when the new message flashes in the task bar, I actually don't see it at all as I am used to see a new message pop-up window in front of me. can not sign in I keep getting contact list not available when I try and sign in with error 80072ee2. I have tried all the firewall and proxy help given on the web and this does not help. WLM 2009 - Cannot add sounds, does not play sounds. I've recently installed Windows Live Messenger 2009, (WLM), onto Windows 7. I find that I often miss people's messages to me because WLM does not play any sounds. If I go to the sounds options and click 'Add new sound' I can browse for, edit and preview a sound, but when I click 'Done' it does not get added - just as if I'd clicked 'cancel' instead. Adding contacts and spam requests from multiple contacts. I've had this problem for years and its gradually got worse and worse. Whenever I add a contact to my messenger it fails to add them properly, right clicking only gives me the option to "send email" to the person, I then delete the contact and add them again for it to show as "send offline" The contact never comes online though, I've tried this with multiple people and multiple accounts and the only way I can add and chat with someone as normal who is new is if they add me first and I get a add request from them. Windows Messenger - Unable to sign in So, every time I run Windows Live Messenger, I get to the sign in screen, input my password and account name, and it says "signing in". However after about fifteen seconds, it just goes back to the sign in screen and says welcome back. I am not getting any error messages, however, on the Messenger icon, there is a red "X" that I don't think is supposed to be there. Any ideas? Default scene is solid blue but only on one account I have 2 accounts with WLM, on one the default scene is as it should be, a mix of blue and white. But on the other account it is solid blue. If i change the scene in the program it changes to that but any contact windows i open continue to be solid blue by the persons name but above that is the new scene. messengeruser account password I need to access WLM using a @messengeruser.com account I have to retrieve the address of one of the contacts but I don't remember the password. How do I get back the uninstall file for WLM? I have been wrestling with this for a few weeks now. Spam Messages sent to me and Multi Request to add new friends This has been a real issue for me now for about 2 months. I have a lot of contacts on my Windows Live Messenger and somehow several of them are sending me spam messages (like check out this great website.....) now most of these friends don't leave their computers on, so it's not comming from their computer, one is from my mums computer and for a while she hasn't had internet access. Live Messenger + Microsoft Life Webcam issues First up, finding help on Windows Live for my problem is impossible. The problem I have : When I am using Windows Live Messenger and I want to start a Video Call I my Messenger displays my webcam until the person I am calling connects. Then Messenger will either Freeze or return an error code, after that I can no longer use the Webcam to try and make Video or Audio calls. Only remedy is shut down Messenger and restart. WLMess email notifications even though unchecked option This just started after coming out of sleep mode. Sometimes I receive email notifications from WLMess for my normal email inbox/account (NOT hotmail and NOT gmail). Yes, WLMess is up and most of the time I do NOT receive email notifications. I have unchecked the box in WLMess so as to not receive email notifications. Yet, they still come. Windows Live Problem Windows Live Messenger won't let me sign in at all today. When I try to troubleshoot, it says that there is no problem that it can find. Also, when I tried to check my hotmail on msn.com, it says that the service is temporarily unavailable. Could this be a problem that they're having? send a wink or nudge option greyed out I have selected the option in Options/Messages but in the message window "Send a wink" and "Send a nudge" are greyed out in the Action menu. Unable to sign in using my session on a vista computer We share a computer with many user's sessions under Vista. WLM 2009 works fine under all sessions except mine. Offline Messages, and My Status My friend said he sent me offline messages a few times, but I neve seen them. There one time when I logged on, old offline messages, including those dated a month ago, popped up. Why were those offline messages delayed? Can I force my WLM check whether there's offline messages for me? Also, why would my friends tell me that I'm offline when actually I'm online? issue being signed in at multiple locations with live messenger Hi. On the computer of an acquaintance, the following problem persistently occurs. Whenever she signs in to live messenger, she is notified that she is signed in at multiple locations. No matter how she tries, she can't sign off at the other location. I've even tried to change the option in the preferences of live messenger to sign out at all other locations whenever she signs in, but that doesn't help either. Does anyone know how to fix this? Live messenger(2009) Regardless of what camera I use, the contact sees video from my camera but on the screen on my pc it stops and starts all the time. If my contact does not have their camera on and I do then no freezing/stop-start. Windows XP Pro 3Gb ram 2.8GHz cpu No problems using the camera for anything else. If I try using the camera and my mate 500 yards away uses his camera to test it out then no freezing of my camera at all. One contact is on virgin using wireless dongle and it is when I try using messenger with or without audio and the camera that my one acts up. Cannot activate cam after latest XP Security Updates (Feb 09 -2010 I have a LG X110 laptop with built in web cam running XP Home. It has been working perfect with MS Live Messenger until the latest MS Security updates for XP, released Feb 09 – 2010 Now it’s not possible to activate the web cam during conversation. The “Show my webcam” is grey. The strange thing is that if I select “Adjust cam” it shows up perfect. I have tried to deactivate/activate the cam in Messenger “Adjust cam” with no result. Windows Live wont open When i try to access my windows live account, internet explorer tries to open the secure site but fails and tries to open it over and over again. i have optimized my internt explorer and updated it and deleted all browsing files to try to fix this. This problem does not occur on my windows xp internet explorer lap top at work. this occurs on my windows vista internet explorer 7 and 8 lap top at home. Messenger show me as offline and I cant unistall program Hi, My Live Messenger 2009 keeps showing me as offline by default even though I set system to online. First I tried to repair all stuff in Windows Live Essential via unistall/repair. That did not help. Windows Live Messenger Access Error I recently re-installed Vista on my computer, and when I close down a conversation window in 'Live Messenger', I get the following error message : "An error occurred saving the message history for ___ (<drive>:\My Received Files\...\History\...xml): Access is denied. Do you want to save again?" I have set the history to save on a separate drive, which was saving messages in the past. Even though I click on 'yes', I've noticed it still does not save the history. Windows Live Messenger and the Notification Area in Windows 7 I recently started using Windows 7, and just like I did when I used XP, I let it automatically login when I login to Windows. However, a difference that I have noticed, and I don't know whether this is because of Windows 7 or because of an update to Windows Live Messenger, but instead of having an icon in the System Tray (or Notification Area in Windows 7), it is displayed as a button on the Taskbar like most programs would be. I installed Win7 instead of vista, because I hear MicroSoft repaired driver and application compatibility problem in Vista by releasing Windows 7 which supports all programs and drivers. I installed the WLM8.5 and modified compatibility to win2000, but the same problem "We are unable to run audio & video setup" occurs. Windows Live Messenger in Windows Vista - Invalid IP Address In the last few days, messenger hasn't been able to sign in because it says there is an invalid IP Address. I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled windows live messenger, and still it isn't able to sign in. instillation hangs on 99% Please could anyone help? I am trying to install the latest version of live messenger for a friend and it "hangs" on 99%. Associate sign in with WLM shortcut On my desktop I have a shortcut to WLM (msnmsgr.exe). WLM has been set up with several IDs. Is there a way of associating an ID with the shortcut so that when I double click on the shortcut, WLM will open up with the associated ID? The idea would be to have a shortcut for each ID that has been set up in WLM. Windows Live Messenger-no send audio Windows 7 installed, Windows Liv e Messenger 2009 (build 14) installed in Acer Netbook Aspire 751h-1948. After installing W-7 in this unit WLM worked fine for both video and audio. After a while it started clipping on both send and receive audio. I downloaded the recommended Realtek driver for the High Definition Audio Device which is 6.0.1.5854. After reinstalling it, there was no send audio. I see audio on the sound bar of the properties, I can record my voice and the far end will hear the recording, the mic level is set properly. Contacts adding without permission Live Messenger 14.0.8089 I occasionally get people asking to add me to messenger that I don't know. I decline and block them and that's that. Today, I received a "contact" that didn't request to be added, but was added automatically to my contact list. All I got was a notification that someone had added me as a contact. I deleted and blocked them - but no way to report them to Microsoft as spammers (as with Skype). My profile pic isn't updating on my other pc's. A few days ago, using latest WLM, I changed my WLM photo on my laptop. Today, I signed onto WLM on my desktop (also using latest version), but it still shows my old photo instead of my new one. WLM & Wireless Network Connection Hi, Every time I successfully sign in to Windows Live Messenger(WLM), I am disconnected from my wirless network. Win7 Cannot log into Windows Live Messenger or Hotmail Computer went to sleep mode during Windows Update install two weeks ago. After restart, computer would not load the administrator account.
