WLM keeps saying it needs to close
While reading emails in WLM it suddenly says it is closing and will find a
solution online. It sometimes freezes and then shuts down. I just upgraded
to Windows 7 and downloaded WLM. I wish I had my Wm back.

Karen, I sometimes see the same symptom, and then find myself sharing your
sentiment re Wm. I don't understand a firm that has millions of customers
yet can't be bothered swiftly to fix the bugs in its software - even when
it's free!

That's not unusual IMO. How frequently does it happen?
Try using the Details button (or equivalently the Events log entry
in the Applications log) to see what module the crash is occurring in.
Finally, it may help to force a compaction. E.g. set the
compaction interval to 1, then close WLMail and allow the prompt.
You may have to reopen and close WLMail without doing anything
else to get a Yes to work cleanly for you.
Good luck

Problems with mail clients are often caused by recent updates to=20
third party security programs. Most of the regulars here have no
or very few issues with Windows Live Mail, since we either use more
compatible security programs or else know how to tame the more
aggressive ones.
Incidentally, kindly configure your Eset security program so it does
not add the gratuitous footer to every outgoing email or post.

Thanks, Gary, I clearly have some catching up to do and have made a start by
removing the Eset footer - this to test that it's gone, with the taming
process hopefully to follow.
