I like this group very informative and helpful.

But where, where do I find the equivalent group for Internet Explorer 8.
Have tried but not successful

Other's have provided a suggested nntp newsgroup..but do note...eventually that group like this one will cease to exist.

Regarding the Internet Explorer General newsgroup...from that group..

<qp>
Which Newsgroups Are Affected by this Shutdown?
All public newsgroups will eventually be closed between June 1, 2010 and
October 1, 2010. Microsoft will be closing newsgroups in a phased approach,
starting with the least active newsgroups and moving eventually to more
active ones throughout the course of the next six months.

Where Should I go with the Closure of this Newsgroup?
In an effort to enhance and improve your experience, this newsgroup is scheduled for closure in the upcoming months and we would
like to invite you to participate at http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/InternetExplorer/threads forum(s). An exact
date will be posted in advance as plans are finalized.

Umm.. No, a newsgroup will not cease to exist just because microsoft
will stop carrying it.

I think he means it'll just die off with less & less & then no traffic
(other than the occasional spam & such), as I've seen in other
company-sponsored type groups when the company took down the server.

Maybe but most company sponsored groups have some sort of presence from the
company. I don't think there is any formal MS presence here except the MVPs. It's
mostly a peer support group anyway.

I've already had this discussion and proved otherwise..

The newsgroup is on Msft' server.
The web sister of the newsgroup is based on feeds from the nttp group.

Other server's carrying the group will cease to obtain feeds once the group is shutdown.

Even those supporting nntp feeds from Msft newsgroups will continue but they also have in time disappeared.

As an e.g....A few years ago msn groups were on the msnnews server, msft discontinued those and they disappeared from other nntp
servers shortly thereafter.

When you find those msn groups, let me know...

MS presence has nothing to do with it..they own the server..this group is/was monitored by a few Msft personnel, some even posting
in the last week.

To address bj's comment...yes the outbound feeds from this and other msnews groups will cease to provide data to other nntp
feeds(e.g. aioe.org). Those will have some form of life after death here...but they can also be discontinued and have in the past.
Newsgroups can live elsewhere for a time and they can completely disappear.

I see quite a few (40+) groups with msn.* .

Give me which one precisely, and I'll see how active it is.

'Active' group. 2 messages, but they hit a filter in my newsreader.
Possibly being from google groups, or some other filter.

I looked on Giganews, and they carry the second newsgroup.
But I only found 2 posts, both spam, posted in 2006.
So it appears to be live and well... ;-)

I mean that the groups still exist and since there is no MS presence here there won't be
much difference. It's mostly peer support. Except maybe for the MS MVPs and if they
continue to post here it won't be different at all.

Especially for the ms.public.vc.* groups. Although there's the occasional post from Stroustrup
or Greg Commeaux, it's almost exclusively peer support. There aren't even any MS MVPs posting there.
