Windows live won't print single page email... prints eye charts only?

  • Follow

Can someone tell me WHY the body of any email invoice has to be printed with
BIG text (1/8th inch tall) and be spread across 2 to 3 pages????

Do I need to get away from HP?
Do I need to get away from Microsoft?
Does Apple have this problem?
Can I go back to like Windows 3.1 on my new pavilion?

It's real simple. I run a small home based business. I don't even use my
computer to do that, except I sometimes order parts online and thus receive
invoices via email. For tax purposes, I need to make a hard copy. I've
tried everything I can but CANNOT reduce the text size it prints. I need a
single page to file away, NOT a 3 page EYE CHART to be able to read hanging
on the wall!

I'm running an HP Pavilion p6277c-b
which includes "Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Internet Explorer 8 version 8.0.7600.16385
Windows Live Mail Version 2009(Build 14.0.8089.0726)
Printer is HP deskjet 5550.

In the email window, view/ text size is check "smallest". Going to "fixed"
didn't help.
I tried in Print/general/preferences/advance/document options/advanced
printing features... changing from enabled to disabled. No help there, then
when I went back to it it was showing enabled again and was now grayed out.
Also tried in Print/general/preferences/effects/resizing options/ changing
from Actual to scale to fit NO CHANGE, then to % of normal and set at 50%...
well that gives me the same multimple pages, all printed tiny in one corner
of the page.

In Explorer I've tried changing text size, view size, and un-checking shrink
to fit , but no help there. Most that did was shrink the size of "Page 1 of
2" (of a single page document mind you) and the size of the date at the
bottom.

Come on Microsoft! Of all the complicated garbage you're into, I would
think being able to properly print an email would be a MUCH MUCH higher
priority! As in abandon your whole operating system and start over if
necessary.

Thanks to anyone out there that can help!

Guess I should have qualified that statement... I've tried everything I
could find to try!
I'll try that... if I can FIND it...

There is a recent hotfix for printing landscape better...

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/980333

Also have you tried printing to a software printer such as XPS Document
Writer? If that works you might have more luck printing from it or at
least resizing it there and then printing from it.

Good luck

Not having a problem with it being truncated on right side... maybe that's
already been updated automatically??

Well that's a nice tip to at least be able to look at how it will print
without continuing to waste paper!
But, it won't let me edit or resize anything. I tried to copy/paste it from
there into the Microsoft Works Word Processor. But of all the paste
options, none leave it looking like an email with header. Maybe with enough
time and editing... at what point am I just creating my OWN invoice? Maybe
I'll try using my digital camera to take a pic of it on the computer screen,
crop it, and print it that way...

The text size I'm viewing right now as I type this is a lot smaller now than
it will appear when I download it from the newsgroup and open it. THAT is
the whole problem I'm having with this crazy Windows Live. It decides it's
going to make all email bigger and apparently there's nothing that can be
done about it?

The "text size" options Largest, Larger, Medium, Smaller, Smallest,...
should read:
Read a book with a microscope!
Are You Blind?
Overfill your window and scroll like crazy!
Smaller than a bread box.
Smallest we can do for you, but still WAY too for printing.

Thank you Robert for your imput. I've been adding text here to make a full
page and will print to XPS Document Writer. Would you agree that this post
should be able to be printed on a single page SOMEHOW? I can size this
whole window to smaller than 8 x 11 sheet of paper and read everything fine.
