I am using XP version of WLM to download messages from several accounts and 
filter them to various folders.
I have just found out that when I read certain messages 'reply' & 'reply 
all' buttons are disabled and I cannot reply at all.
However the forward button is not disabled.
What causes this situation? 

That will happen if there is no valid e-mail address in the message's 
FROM header.
To verify, you can look at the Message Source (Ctrl-F3).
