In Outlook when I replied to a message a copy was put in the folder from
which the reply was sent. If the reply was sent from the Inbox, the copy was
put in "Sent Mail"/

In windows Live Mail, the copy always goes to "Sent mail". Is there any way
to change this to have the copy go to the folder from which the reply was
sent?

No, you can't make Windows Live Mail behave like Outlook.
In Windows Live Mail, each account has its own set of folders,
including a Sent Items folder. Outgoing messages are filed in the
Sent Items folder of the account that was used to send from.

That option is only available in Outlook when using Exchange or Imap accounts.

In Outlook, by default, a copy of each message that you send is saved in the Sent Items folder.

WLM is not configurable to change the location(and as noted each account has its own Sent folder)
