I cannot paste an image, like from an internet browser for example, into the 
body of an e-mail. I can attach photos okay, or insert them from files, but I 
cannot paste one in line with the text.

Copy/paste never worked with Outlook Express or Windows Mail. Once in a 
great while you might get away with it, but what looked OK in the new 
message window only ended up as a red X when sent. WLMail is no different.

Right click on the picture and Save As and save it to your HDD. Now attach 
or insert it from that location.
