I have added a third email account to Live Mail. I seem to be recieving
messages fine. But I would like to add a message rule to file certain
messages in a subfolder.
And when I try to make the rule, I fail to see this new account amongst the
folders available to 'move' messages to.
Why is this missing? What can I do?
Thank you!

Is this a POP3 account? Message rules are only for POP3 accounts.

Mike, you're right on target.
I have two Gmail accounts in my Live Mail. One is listed in Live Mail as
POP3 account whereas this account is not.
In my Gmail settings, both accounts are set to work with POP3.
Is there a way I can change the settings for this account to also be POP3?
Thank you!

You can't change the protocol for an existing account, so delete that

Hey, Gary,
You know, I was thinking: Couldn't Windows Live Mail have made things easier
for me? Like why doesn't Live Mail (when you automatically have it set up the
new email account) first off add my Gmail account as a POP3.
And if there are reasons why I wouldn't want it POP3 -- perhaps it could ask
me which I would prefer (and perhaps tell me the advantages and disadvantages
of each)?
Thanks,
Avrohom

At one time, the WLM default for Gmail was POP3, but the latest version
changed that to the IMAP default. I suppose that was done based on
some user survey.
I suppose there is always room for more customization, but at some=20
point Microsoft needs to limit the bells and whistles in its free email =
client.
Gmail has an article on the advantages of IMAP over POP3:
