Missing mail folders

About a month ago I transferred mail via Windows Easy Transfer mail from OE8
Windows XP to Windows 7. All the mail folders were shown under "Storage
Folders". Now I notice all of them have disappeared. Does anyone have any
idea what caused this and where they went?

I was using the latest Outlook Express program with XP -- isn't that
OE8?

Version 6 is the last version of Outlook Express. All production ended in
June, 2006.

IE 7 and 8 do not include OE. OE comes with IE 6.

Well then obviously it was 6. The fact remains I had all my mail
folders sitting nicely in Storage (in Windows Mail) one day and then a
week or so later, poof they were gone.

Windows Mail is the Vista email program. It is not Windows Live Mail.

Let's start over.

About a month ago I transferred mail folders via Windows Easy Transfer
from Outlook Express in Windows XP to Windows 7. All the mail folders
were shown under "Storage Folders" in Windows Live Mail after the
transfer. After sitting there nicely to be read at will for several
weeks, all of a sudden they have disappeared. Does anyone have any
idea what caused this and where they went?

Is the folder still there but it is empty?
Is the view set to Show all messages?

Under "Storage folders" there are Drafts, Sent items, Deleted items,
and Recovered items. All are empty except Sent items.

When I click on view "Show all messages" does not appear.

Care to clarify...
File on the WLM Menu does not have that option.
View on the WLM Menu does not have that option
View/Layout/Folder Pane does not have that option
Quick Views does not have that option..

And were these folders in WLM's Storage folders labeled as Imported Folders with subfolders ?

If yes........If you navigate to your WLM Message Store in Windows Explorer are those folders present
 - the default location in your message store is
 C:\Users\<your windows username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail\Storage Folders

No option on File and View. Folder pane has storage file checked as
well as quick view.

On the main mail window, View - Show or Hide - Show all Messages . . . . . .
this is folder specific. The folder is selected in your folder list down
the left side of WLMail, by clicking it once to "highlight it", then click
on View - Show or Hide - Show all Messages.

Have you tried using "View - Go to folder" - are they listed there? (Be
sure to click on little triangles to the left to expand each folder level.)
Use this in conjunction with Show all Messages. Find the folders, then show
the messages.

Fyi...use Explorer to look for the folders and their included *.eml and/or *.news messages. If not present, no amount of looking in
WLM will show them.
If present, then after backing them up, WLM should be forces to perform a compact. Once complete recreated with user named folders,
then import the messages or drag them back in.
