Delay in receiving email
I am using Windows Live Mail (OS is Windows 7 Home Premium) on my laptop,
configured for a Comcast email account. I also have a desktop using Outlook
Express to handle the same email account. Using "Live Mail", I have
experienced 2-4 hour delays in receiving some emails, but not all. I
discovered this recently when expecting an important business-related email.
By phone, I knew that the email had been sent. After waiting 20 minutes, I
used my desktop (Outlook Express) and could see that the email had been
received. If I cannot rely on "Live Mail", I will need to look for other
alternatives. On the internet, I see that other users are experiencing the
same problem. Is this something that will be corrected soon?

Is your "check email every (?) minutes" ticked for a reasonable time (as
low as 1 minute) on your live mail account? If so, you should have NO
problem receiving email nearly as fast as it is sent.

Tools | Options | General. Is: Send and receive messages at startup
checked? Is: Check for messages every X minutes checked? How many minutes?
Are your computers configures this way? On both machines:
Tools | Accounts | Mail | Properties | Advanced - Check: Leave a copy of
messages on the server.
On one machine only, check to Delete messages after X days to satisfy your
allotted space you get from your server.
Tools | Accounts | Mail | Properties | General. Is: "Include this
account............" checked on both machines?

The email client program has absolutely no influence over how quickly
a message gets delivered. That job belongs to mail servers.
If you want to know where the delay occurred, press Ctrl+F3 to see
the 'Received' headers. Those are time stamps added by each mail server
that handled that message.
