Problem in Windows Live Mail. - Here is Thunderbird better.
Picture in Clipboard, insert into the mail, the mail is very big, that is
bad.
Reason maybe it is a bitmap, better jpg format.
Have I any possiblities in the settings?

The problem is the size and that is an issue with your server, not which
e-mail client you use. Compared to GIFs and JPGs, BMPs are huge. If you
can save whatever it is as a GIF, it should go with no problem.

ok, I open the jpg picture with IrfanView.
I make a rectangle with left mouse key.
Use Ctrl + X -> Clipboard
Insert Ctrl +V in my eMail.
The size is very big.
I think it is a Client problem.
I can't say, use jpg, GIF or whatever.
How can I say, use GIF?
Where can I make the adjustment?
Thunderbird 2.14 Size 300kB
Windows Live Mail Size 1200kB

I don't use IrfanView so I couldn't say, but a jpg should be OK. What I
don't understand is this. Let's say you have this graphic in My Pictures,
or any other folder on your HDD. When you insert it in WLMail, it should
be the same size as it is in Thunderbird.
If you are talking about the physical size, I use this freeware tool for
resizing. It is real quick & easy.

No!
This is only happen, if you insert the picture from Clipboard!!!
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Clipboard.paste_image_type
In Thunderbird, you can change the settings. Maybe also in WLM, or? Please
see my link or try it.
Pleasse insert not the picture as file, only via Clipboard makes the
eMail very big.

Now I see why the difference, but WLMail has no such option.

Cut out the middleman. Simply "Attach" the image in WLM.

By my understanding, any picture captured to the clipboard in the way Marcus
describes is stored as a bitmap on the clipboard. The clipboard cannot
itself convert it to a JPEG.
It seems like WLM can't either, which frankly is what I would expect. If
Marcus is giving us the whole story, it appears that Thunderbird will
somehow automatically convert a bitmap into a JPEG (or similar). I'm
surprised and impressed that it will do that.
So, Marcus: you can't make WLM compress a bitmap automatically, so you will
have to find a different way of working. As Evan says, save the required
picture as a file and attach it.

The picture is already saved as a file. The OP opens it in IRFANVIEW,
and copies it to the clipboard.

That most likely is the problem. As he's copying it to the clipboard, it get
stored there as a bitmap

Pointless, I agree. But he actually wrote:
>> ok, I open the jpg picture with IrfanView.
>> I make a rectangle with left mouse key.
>> Use Ctrl + X -> Clipboard
.........which suggests he wants to send just a small part of the picture - a
selected rectangle. In which case he's out of luck, because it's going to
be on the clipboard as a bitmap.

Ah... Missed that part.
So I guess (I haven't used irfanview in a while) he could control-c to
copy selected portion, and certainly irfanview has a 'paste to new'
type feature, to paste the selection to a new file. Save that portion
to a file, attach that file.

but that needs more time.
I would be delighted if someone had a tip/hint.
It is not depend from IrfanView, each tool have the same behavior.
I think it is advantage for Thunderbid 3.X
>>In which case he's out of luck, because it's going to be on the clipboard

Thunderbid 3.X can convert it automatically.
OK now I should decide which tool is better.

Prefer JPEG over PNG over GIF:
1.If JPEG is available, paste in JPEG format;
2.if JPEG is not available but PNG, paste in PNG;
3.if neither JPEG nor PNG are available, but GIF, paste in GIF.
